To be know if anyone has any interesting careers/jobs

Ok silly because I know its not quite a aibu

But thinking today about jobs that I am fascinated with , like personal shopper, and wondered what people on here do and if there is a big range of interesting careers. Ive read previously there are actors and writers on here,what other things? and is anyone a personal shopper?Do people actually use them?

I think my career - and all the jobs within it - are interesting, but many people would consider it dull. I did a degree in geology and physics, MSc in Engineering Geology, spend several years in civil engineering consultancy digging and drilling up the ground (or at least supervising people doing so), interpreting the results and designing things to go in/on the earth. Moved into flood defence engineering - primarily publicaly funded - so much of my present role involves justifying spending public funds, weighing up the "cost" of life, habitat and heritage/culture, withinh economic constraints and the legal framework. I find it really interesting, many don't, but hey, less competition!

I know several people who have used a personal shopper, including me.

I think mine is interesting - I design software which works out how to give radiotherapy treatment. Lots of lovely physics

I'm a nurse who now specialises in tissue donation. Anyone can donate tissues including eyes, after death, if they meet certain criteria. I support other nurses in approaching families during very difficult times when offering the bereaved this choice for their loved one. The way these tissues can be used is very interesting and ever developing. I'm also training to retrieve the eyes for corneal transplant - all fascinating stuff but not for the light hearted.

I work with Birds of Prey and Owls. Mainly the training of captive bred birds and the rehabilitation of abused/neglected captive bred birds. I am hoping eventually to be able to rehabilitate and release wild birds, lack of space at the moment is making it very difficult though.

I'm a dressmaker, I mainly make wedding dresses, prom dresses and evening gowns and I love it.
It's not what I went to uni for but my degree in modern world history dud nothing for me career wise.

Peace can I ask you a question? I'm an organ donor but I never put my eyes down as I was afraid of losing them. Silly I know. What it actually removed from the eye. I keep imaging myself with no eyes.

Selfridges Birmingham provide a personal shopper for free, I used that service for my 21st birthday, to find a dress.

I am an assistant clinical psychologist. I love working with people in mental health settings. I run therapy groups and do neuropsychological tests and one to one therapeutic work. Hoping not to be an assistant forever though.

It's the full eye, but not nearly as gory as ppl think. Donors are treated with the utmost respect & a prothesis (fake eye) replaces it. Ironically your own eyes go sunken and soft following death so actually having the prosthesis can in some cases be more aesthetically pleasing.

I'm a theatre nurse, I work in various specialities and am currently in neuro surgery, but also do a bit of ENT, HPB, renal, transplant, general and breast. It's very interesting and I feel privileged to be doing it. I love going to work. Like the sound of owl rehab though.

I work with heroin and crack addicts, covering prison visits, prison releases, patways into treatment and offender management. I'm a self employed counsellor as well.

I run my small PR agency and I love it! Wish my clients were Jimmy Choo and Cadburys insteaf of building products but I do find it very interesting! Working for myself suits me and my family too

social worker and it is interesting and i did enjoy it - i'm just not working atm. it isn't all doom and gloom. so far i have done huge art projects with teenagers which involved fire sculpture and underwater photography. i have cut trees down with mental health service users and had them teach me to use a bow saw properly! i have been shouted at tons of times but it doesn't bother me because all kids are funny and perceptive and give you something. this job has taught me to be more forgiving than i ever thought i could be and cemented my absolute belief that we are all a product of our experiences.

now that i'm not at work i'm a peer supporter. this is also fun and interesting though not as challenging as the above. better still i can talk to my latch on mums outside of work :)

I'm a junior doctor working in plastic surgery at unit that specialises in hand trauma, oncoplastic work and burns. Its not at boob jobs and tummy tucks :) I eventually hope to specialise in orthopaedics.

I teach Equine Exercise Physiology. I love it. It's my passion. That's why I'd be a tincey-wincey bit happier researching it (new info) than I would teaching it (old info)!!
