AIBU?

.....to be fed up of the dog threads

Well I am.

Lots of threads cropped up recently talking about nasty, horrible dogs and nasty, horrible owners not controlling their dogs.

I thought we were a nation of animal lovers ? Or it that just an urban myth ?

I'm fed up of people pussy-footing around too.....I LOVE DOGS and it's well known that there are no bad dogs, but bad owners.

Hmmpphhh.

Here here OP
I love my dogs too. I have a jack russell and a golden labrador and they are my family.

YANBU. And cat threads too. It's the same old shit trotted out on every single thread, again and again and again and again. It's like sodding Ground Hog Day round 'ere lately.

Yeah but presumably the dogs wont be reading MN anyway, but their owners might Grin

I'm fed up of dog threads and cat shit threads...but people have a right to post them and I have a right to ignore.

YANBU. but think it is a myth that we are animal lovers. Take a look at cruelty cases and places full of abandoned/unwanted animals.

I'll bet there are more 'bastard DH done me wrong' threads than 'bastard dogs/cats piss/crap/jump' etc

A refreshing change.

How about some 'bloody MIL' threads. Oh... hold on...

I know, you need - 'those sodding slugs are eating my garden and I want to put salt on them' threads

I was about to start a rant thread about people not picking up after their dogs after running my pram through dog crap. Then I saw the number of dog threads on here & thought it would just be too boring. I love dogs but the reason I don't have one is because I hate picking up shit, bad enough changing a nappy. I don't blame the dog though, I blame bad, lazy owners.

But yes you're right MN seems to be dog obsessed at the moment.

I think most people on here are actually dogs or cats, hence the number of threads slagging each other off....

'I was in the back garden with my litter when next door's dog kept jumping up at the fence - AIBU to have arched my back and hissed in a pointed manner?' etc.

Far too many. There hasn't been a good m&b parking space thread for a while has there? I miss those :)

DooinMeCleanin · 06/06/2011 15:58

Maybe we should have an 'animal shit' topic and a 'rant about animals' topic. Then I could hide them.

My dog was never in nappies, never gets fleas or worms and is always happy to see me.

The four year old is still happy to poo in her pants, DD1 caught nits at school today and DD2's best friend has worms. They are indifferent to me or hostile if I fail to met their demands immediately.

My mother used to say 'if I knew then what I know now I'd have half a dozen dogs and no kids' Grin

I often wonder why they don't post under the relevant thread.

I must admit OP I agree with you it is a bit boring to see the same variation on a theme appearing time and time again.

YANBU

people are so intolerant! i have never had a day out ruined by someones dog, but it seems to be the norm on mn Hmm maybe i am just lucky, but where i live the dog owners seem to be a polite bunch with well mannered pets.

Am I being unreasonable to be fed up with threads about being fed up with dog threads?

Report
Melly19MummyToBe · 06/06/2011 16:33

There should just be a topic specifically for discussing/arguing/slagging each other off about animal shit. You can bet it would be so much more popular than chat or AIBU :o

And yes, I say 'animal' shit, as it's not all about dogs and cats! There was one a few weeks ago where someone thought horse owners/riders should stop and pick up their horses dung when out riding.

RevoltingPeasant · 06/06/2011 16:39

Melly seriously, this is one thing I never get: dog shit is disgusting, yes, as is cat shit. But I live in a ruralish area, and we get horse poo on the roads, and sheep shit/ cowpats ALL over most local public footpaths.

Farmers' cows have chased me through fields, ruining otherwise lovely walks (I am scared of them). They graze their sheep on common land, meaning I can't walk my dog through what should be public property. But I just figure, live and let live.... And honestly, dog poo over a fresh cowpat any day, yeuch..... Envy

Revolting - yes dog and cat shit is disgusting but horses and sheep shit pure nectar.

Maybe someone should patent an 'arse-bung' for dogs for walkie time.
