AIBU?

About my Gran and babysitting?

I asked her if she would babysit for me on Saturday night. She said no but she had babysat the last Saturday night and she wasn't actually going anywhere, so I decided since she had babysat last week and was staying in she mustn't really mean no and so I dropped the kids off anyway.

She wasn't best pleased. So WIBU?

I don't believe this is real.

I don't believe anyone would do this.

Having said that, my BIL does this...

You're joking right? This is reversed right?

Because surely no-one would do this and think they were being reasonable.

Are you actually the Gran??

WriterofDreams · 06/06/2011 14:16

Oh and YANBU. If she was sitting in the house she clearly wanted to babysit. If she didn't want to babysit she should have gone out.

Thank you WriterofDreams and thiscantbehappening. How was I meant to know she meant no just because she said no Confused? She'd babysat the last week for me.

Yes you are right shirley. If the meaning of no is clear in this context why do people get so confused about it's meaning when it comes to something as personal as sex?

good point re:consent

darleneoconnor · 06/06/2011 14:32

in answer to your 2nd question it is so that people who have been victims can kid themselves that they haven't and that people who have been rapists can kid themselves that they aren't.

A big chunk of our society is in mass denial.

Ah so saying yes once means an unwritten expression of agreement for all future acts.

Obviously. Hmm
