I asked her if she would babysit for me on Saturday night. She said no but she had babysat the last Saturday night and she wasn't actually going anywhere, so I decided since she had babysat last week and was staying in she mustn't really mean no and so I dropped the kids off anyway.

She wasn't best pleased. So WIBU?

I don't believe this is real.

I don't believe anyone would do this.

Having said that, my BIL does this...

Yep, you were grin

MrsRhettButler Mon 06-Jun-11 14:13:57

is this about something else?

springbokscantjump Mon 06-Jun-11 14:14:18

You're joking right? This is reversed right?

Because surely no-one would do this and think they were being reasonable.

uselesscamhs Mon 06-Jun-11 14:14:25

YABVVU. If this isn't another wind up thread.

SenoritaViva Mon 06-Jun-11 14:15:08

YANBU. She wasnt going anywhere, probably just sat watching the Lottery like most old people on a Sat night.

WriterofDreams Mon 06-Jun-11 14:15:23

I get your meaning Dooin.

supersewer Mon 06-Jun-11 14:15:42

You can.tbe serious, of all the selfish people! You that is,not your gran!

BabyDubsEverywhere Mon 06-Jun-11 14:15:54

Are you actually the Gran??

WriterofDreams Mon 06-Jun-11 14:16:13

Oh and YANBU. If she was sitting in the house she clearly wanted to babysit. If she didn't want to babysit she should have gone out.

itisnearlysummer Mon 06-Jun-11 14:18:02

I think this is the gran.

DooinMeCleanin Mon 06-Jun-11 14:18:18

Thank you WriterofDreams and thiscantbehappening. How was I meant to know she meant no just because she said no confused? She'd babysat the last week for me.

elmofan Mon 06-Jun-11 14:22:04

I doubt she will ever babysit again for you .

GeekCool Mon 06-Jun-11 14:23:29

children should be banned from the internet hmm

DooinMeCleanin Mon 06-Jun-11 14:24:35

Children should be banned from most places GeekCool and dogs and cats, but that wasn't my question grin.

Portofino Mon 06-Jun-11 14:24:57

Aaaah - I get it!

shirleyshortcut Mon 06-Jun-11 14:25:00

DooinMeCleanin Mon 06-Jun-11 14:28:41

Yes you are right shirley. If the meaning of no is clear in this context why do people get so confused about it's meaning when it comes to something as personal as sex?

darleneoconnor Mon 06-Jun-11 14:29:49

good point re:consent

darleneoconnor Mon 06-Jun-11 14:32:33

in answer to your 2nd question it is so that people who have been victims can kid themselves that they haven't and that people who have been rapists can kid themselves that they aren't.

A big chunk of our society is in mass denial.

GeekCool Mon 06-Jun-11 14:36:11

Ah so saying yes once means an unwritten expression of agreement for all future acts.

Obviously. hmm

thiscantbehappening Mon 06-Jun-11 15:00:59

Cant we just stick to the grandma babysitting issue?
