before I lose the will to live. They are playing,it's hot but it consists of about 6 or 7 kids under 7 shrieking like they are being slayed for hours. The thought of this for the summer is making me want to cry. I know I'm being u but don't their parents ever say stop?!! I don't remember doing it,I would have got the death stare if I was screaming....and my baby is due in 4 weeks & then I'll have another screamer.......I really need to sleep, can you tell?

Kids will be kids you can't stop them having fun, my DD and her friend are outside screaming and laughing having fun, it certainly doesn't annoy me, they are having fun. I think your too tired and when I was pregnant the slightest thing annoyed me, I cried most of the time.
They will be in bed soon OP

yes, icedloly, there must be loads of people in your position. Hot weather can make it worse. Neighbour things are the great untold story of out modern society. Good luck

Don't worry your baby will probably keep them awake soon.

OP have you children at all? If not then the screams of those youngsters playing will be naff all compared to your baby. And mine was a screamer.

They're playing. It's a lovely warm evening - that's what having neighbours is like. However pregnant you are this is the worst time of day to go to sleep - you'll be wide awake at 3 am. Better try and slog on till 8.30-9ish at least.

I send DS into the garden when he is noisy. You will do the same too.

Op I understand, next door have a toddler (so do I) and a 4 year old who are still up in the garden screaming, tantrums etc. My dd is in bed for 7 as their kids are up and loud by 6am (which wakes her)

I just keep telling myself that dd will go through a loud stage or the next one will (am due in 8.5 weeks) so I need to be patient. It can be difficult to keep your calm though, but I suppose it's up to them how they parent and I just bite my tongue

First one on the way. Had to close all the windows so now I'm hot & grumpy! Big frustrations today anyway....first anniversary which my h (not dh today) doesn't see as a big deal,no card or anything, scan & the baby is enormous so I'm v uncomfortable. I like to hear kids enjoying themselves but today, well, not so much!!

Then do what I suggested, relax and have a bath.
Remember screaming kids come with the package so get used to it if you can't take screaming kids having fun how will you handle your baby crying hour after hour with you getting zero sleep?

It seems your taking your frustrations out on not having a card on innocent children playing outside.

I have a toddler who is a 100% fail on volume control.

I'm sorry neighbours!! At least she doesn't get up too early.

Babies seem loud to their parents, but they actually cry really quietly compared to older kids.

Think how you'll cope with a screaming teething baby?

YANBU!

Why should "screaming" kids come with the package? Fair enough being outside and having a good time, laughing, etc but screaming? Really is this okay with you all?
Children do need to learn to be considerate of their neighbours imo, it's not all about them and not spoiling their "fun".
Have you considered speaking to the parents op? Do you know them at all? It may be that they don't realise how their children's shrieking carries across to your home. They may be very apologetic and try to keep their children's noise down

But it's aimed at them, go round and knock on the neighbours door and tell the parents to keep their children quiet. I can just see the reaction....

BootyMum · 03/06/2011 19:56

And babies and toddlers being noisy most rational people should be able to tolerate and forgive.

But older children should know better... and if they don't it should be up to their parents to let them know their noise levels are unreasonable, especially if they are outside for a protracted period of time.

Report
BootyMum · 03/06/2011 20:01

Obviously katvond you would not take kindly to a neighbour letting you know they were finding your children's shrieking a bit hard to take...

I don't think that's unreasonable myself but of course I realise you can also get neighbours who will get antsy over the slightest noise and so it's hard to please everyone. But I would hate to think my children were causing distress to anyone with their noise and if it was said to me nicely and politely I would do everything in my power to ensure my two didn't carry on like billy-ho but rather had a little respect for those who have to listen to them.
