and enjoy the bank holiday without them?

Mishy1234 Mon 30-May-11 07:44:26

YANBU at all. They'll have fun and you get some time to yourself. Everyone's a winner!

Rannaldini Mon 30-May-11 07:46:24

will it make me a bad mother?

RueLaChesty Mon 30-May-11 07:47:02

if you still have to pay then yes put them in!

even maybe just pick them up slightly earlier if you feel guilty? Although i wouldn't (feel guilty).

clappyhands Mon 30-May-11 07:48:57

oohhhh i so would, but its closed grin

how does it make you a bad mother? everyone needs time off every now and again

Rannaldini Mon 30-May-11 07:54:15

the things you think you'll do before having them compared to what actually happens is insane

happymole Mon 30-May-11 07:55:04

Do it! Do it!

I would but the bloody nursery is closed today

Mine goes in every Tuesday despite the fact I only work every other one.

Rannaldini Mon 30-May-11 07:55:37

i have also considered sending the baby once she is 18 mths
imagine. if you will. a day alone.

Rannaldini Mon 30-May-11 07:56:15

mine are all off nursery tomorrow..<more excuses>

iskra Mon 30-May-11 07:59:12

ah, amazing! I'm gutted my childminder isn't working today so DD is at home with me when I had a lot of work to do. Hadn't realised it was a bank hol until Saturday - DP is working as normal.

FakePlasticTrees Mon 30-May-11 08:01:48

Mine's not open.

do it, you can compromise and pick them up a bit earlier and have spent some of the day soucing yummy food for dinner (am thinking banana cake, but that's just because I want banana cake).

Rannaldini Mon 30-May-11 08:33:07

aren't you all supposed to kill me as this is aibu??

Tortoiseonthehalfshell Mon 30-May-11 08:35:18

I'll kill you, but only because you've found a nursery which opens on bank holidays. I want one of those.

I've done this before, sent mine in for a day when I was on leave, and I just picked her up early so we had time to do something fun (go to the park) before the dinner/bath/bed grind. Everyone was happy.

DontCallMePeanut Mon 30-May-11 08:35:51

I've just realised I've lost a day somewhere <cries> I thought today was Sunday... I really did!

DontCallMePeanut Mon 30-May-11 08:36:45

And yes..., YABU! Only because DS's nursery isn't open.

microfight Mon 30-May-11 08:38:37

Lucky you to have a nursery open today. Go for it, kick back and enjoy yourself. Catch up on some good TV and put your feet up. Why the guilt?

Clarabumps Mon 30-May-11 08:40:34

do it! I used to put my ds into nursery an hour early so i could go for a coffee and read a paper before work. Now i'm a SAHM and i look back on those fond memories...ahh... I'd love a day to myself!x

SunshineisSorry Mon 30-May-11 08:40:45

YABU if you don't!!! these opportunities don't present themselves very often - I would love to get some time alone or alone with DP, it has to be done - enjoy x

Lou222 Mon 30-May-11 08:52:04

You are a bad mother, they probably won't even know who you are by the time you pick them up ! grin

Rannaldini Mon 30-May-11 09:06:54

I have discovered a new non judgemental aibu...have i entered a weird portal?
not even one person saying "why have children if you don't want to look after them?"

ihavenewsockson Mon 30-May-11 09:17:14

YABU why have children if you don't want to look after them? wink

Liby Mon 30-May-11 09:20:12

This makes me sad - I can't wait to have children, but can't right now due to financial reasons. How awful that people who have a DC want to get rid of them!
You are selfish.

Ambi Mon 30-May-11 09:25:59

I felt like you Lily before I had children too. It's easy to judge when you don't have the experience.

OP, lucky you for finding a nursery which is open bank holidays, ours is closed but still have to pay, DD is only in Mon and Fri so we get royally screwed Apr and May, the robbing bastards.

Liby Mon 30-May-11 09:29:52

I can guarantee I will not feel like that. Why would you choose to have children, if you just want to stick them in a nursery when your at home. You could have a lovely day together doing lovely things.

Ambi Mon 30-May-11 09:30:01

Liby sorry not Lily
