How utterly dispicable. Really a 3 year old knows how to use a nintendo DS? I hate it when two siblings get the exact same toy each - it doesn't promote sharing or learning to get along. I hope they have fun with them. Guess everyone's parenting is different.

I got DD and DS age 7 and 5 a DSI each and a heap of games to get me through the long trip to the UK next week... what's wrong with an electronic babysitter? So far DDs favourite game is a brain teaser one so it is not a lot different to the homework internet games the teacher sets... They also seem really hardy as DS has dropped his down the stairs twice and the baby likes to bang it around...

I doubt you'd complain about nice,, quiet kids playing a DS in the airport, rather than running around screaming...

Dd had a ds at 5y. Definitely wasn't a babysitter for her. Electronic games are not evil and do not always lead to addicted children who do nothing else.

Pmsl Poncey!! I bought my 3yo dd and 4yo ds 2nd hand ds's for xmas. they get put away when dc aren't allowed to play and it has encouraged my ds to actually put pen to paper (something he wouldn't do before). do you have nothing in your house that is forbidden for the dc to have in unlimited amounts? Eg, I have chocolate hidden for mummy o'clock in my kitchen but dc only get it when i say it's ok. Everything in moderation :)

Wouldn't waste a DS on a kid that young. My hamfisted 3 year old would break it pretty quickly. But whatever steams your pudding. Doesn't affect you at all does it OP? They're buying them, not you.

I wouldn't get them for mine that young and I'd be pissed off with DH if he did without discussing it with me. Clearly you and I are in the minority though! Still, like someday says, you can moderate how much they use them.
