Is having pubic hair deemed unhygienic

Just following on from another thread.
Do people see others who don't shave or wax down below as unhygienic.
Personally I'm smooth below but that's my preference.
What's others views on this?

I think in general, younger women tend to shave/wax and older women tend to not. I thought this idea of waxing/shaving came from watching pornography and that is why there is an age divide?

I know years ago they used to shave women before they gave birth as they thought it was more hygenic. They stopped it after they found it was actually less hygenic - but I'm not sure why.

I just can't be assed with the regrowth tbh. I used to chave most of it off, too wimpy for a wax there but the regrowth is annoying so I have given up now.

For me it feels unhygienic, you shave under your arms because you sweat and it smells, so why not pubic hair because when it is hot that would sweat too.

Oral sex is better if there is no hair underneath.

It's there to protect and regulate heat.

It isn't unhygenic. Removing it is a fashion not a necessity.

Total social conditioning IMO, have had this discussion many a time (yes really lol) and it appears women and men over thage of about 35 think totally bald is not nice/bit weird/reminiscent of pre-pubescent girls and those under think hair is yucky, unhygenic. Must be linked in some way to pornification of society, cant really think of another reason why such a marked age difference between hair havers and hair haters

I shave because I feel cleaner that way, but I'm sure I was just as hygienic when hairy - it is just a feeling/preference.

I mean, I may be anatomically unique, but round here my bush doesn't grow up my fanjo, it grows on the outside. Tampax go inside. Heavy period makes no difference at all.

I'm on the age boundary of my (totally unscientific) theory and have had it both ways...yes it does itch and I cant be arsed/have better stuff to do with nmy time/money than keep getting it waxed!

Agree with Lesley,the influence of pornography in the mainstream media has definately caused a dramatic increase in removal of pubic hair.
You ask a girl today what a brazilian is and she wont say coffee!

Remove, dont remove its your choice, but with a rediculous % of the under 40 year olds shaving etc, it isnt surprising that the idea that to have pubic hair is unhygienic or somehow lesbian .
Personally ,seeing a grown woman with no pubic hair is disconcerting,like shes aping pre puberty, ifyou see what i mean.

LRD - I did find it harder to stay clean and fresh during my period when I used sanitary towels. And I used to have very heavy periods that regularly flooded past a tampon, so had to use a towel in addition to a tampon - and I found that, as this was the case, being shaven made it easier to stay clean and fresh. And I am a lazy person so am all for anything that makes life easier.

I have a shower every day so it never really gets dirty. And although I have sweaty armpits at times, I have NEVER been aware of sweating "down there".

One thing - (slightly off subject) but I have removed my hair down below before, but since I had children I don't want to do it and make my area look like my daughters! Just seems wrong.

I do have a landing strip tho, after shaving a few times it stops becoming itchy 2Boys
