I dont know why it just makes me cringe

HeidiKat Sat 21-May-11 18:08:38

YANBU, I also hate all the spin offs from it "GILF" etc.

bubblecoral Sat 21-May-11 18:11:03

I've been called that a couple of times. Tacky and cringeworthy but harmless really.

mumnotmachine Sat 21-May-11 18:11:35

What does it mean?

I assumed it was something to do with mother in law?

bisybackson Sat 21-May-11 18:12:14

Eugh. I had to google that. Better than googling dragon butter, but yuck all the same.

ajandjjmum Sat 21-May-11 18:12:28

Not nice - but I suspect I'm just jealous as I'd never fall into that category! grin

Tambern Sat 21-May-11 18:13:03

It means Mother I'd like To Fuck. It's tacky and charmless and used by a certain type of person

Shakirasma Sat 21-May-11 18:14:03

Oh I'd be made up if someone called me a MILF! What an ego boost.

Probably never happen sad

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Sat 21-May-11 18:14:19

It sounds like a phrase coined by a woman.. I can't see a man thinking of anything like that with 'mother' in the title. Ick.. confused

mumnotmachine Sat 21-May-11 18:15:34

Ah LOL- couldnt have been much further from what it was/is!!

So its a sort of lusting after someone acronym?

**Goes off to work out GILF****
Hmm God I'd like to f**?

fotheringhay Sat 21-May-11 18:15:55

I hate it too, just thought of it earlier. No need for that at all.

fotheringhay Sat 21-May-11 18:17:00

oh I sound like a right old killjoy now

mumnotmachine Sat 21-May-11 18:17:48

So someone would say MILF Keanu Reeves (Yep showing my age)

Or they literally want to f***someones mother?

*Clueless, and not googling LOL**

bigbadbarry Sat 21-May-11 18:17:54

YANBU

AgentZigzag Sat 21-May-11 18:20:47

From what I gather mumnotmachine, it's said by a younger lad of a woman in her 30/40's.

Shakirasma Sat 21-May-11 18:21:56

Mumnotmachine

Eg. Wow, Victoria beckham is a MILF!

BelleDameSansMerci Sat 21-May-11 18:22:37

It's a bloody awful term. It's supposed to be some sort of compliment but the whole "wow, she's a mother and I'd still like to fuck her" thing is just odd. Does this mean that the minute a "normal" woman has a child she immeediately becomes completely unattractive but that, in exceptional circumstances, there is <gasp> a mother who is sexually attractive?

Really, really offensive, I think.

mumnotmachine Sat 21-May-11 18:25:19

Well Im enlightened, thats for sure!!

And I will never have it said to me!!!!

So is GILF grandmother?

forwantofabetter1 Sat 21-May-11 18:25:29

We were described as a gang of MILFs whilst out and about last night, made my evening x

Shakirasma Sat 21-May-11 18:27:14

No belle.

It was originally used in the scenario of teen boys fancying their mates mums.

BelleDameSansMerci Sat 21-May-11 18:27:32

GILF is grandmother...

BelleDameSansMerci Sat 21-May-11 18:28:41

Shakirasma - I know where it came from but that's not how it's become more widely applied.

Cocoflower Sat 21-May-11 18:30:44

It orginated from the American Pie movie AFAIK

It's just another term showing sexual objectification and nothing more...
