In really disliking Bugaboo especially now I've seen this!

I admit it, I looked at bugaboo when I was expecting ds1 as they were the 'in thing" and up until I saw them I thought they must be the best cause of all the coverage etc. Then I saw them in the flesh and thought they were a heap of junk and cheap looking in all honesty. Now I see the article above and I just think people can't be buying these for any other reason than the name and celebrity endorsement surely?

It's not so much the cost, the pram I eventually chose was more expensive than a Bugaboo, more value for money and the fact people are only buying them for the reasons stated above.

I was looking at the pic of the side basket being fitted and was thinking before I noticed it was a side basket....'Surely thats too narrow to fit a baby in and it doesn't look very comfy

Just out of interest , how is your more expensive pram better value for money ?

YANBU at all.

I've always disliked the looks of the Bugaboo - little as I am bothered about the appearance of buggies, but the Bugaboo just looks wrong to me. We needed a while new travel system for dc3, and it had to fit a certain carseat, so we looked at the Bugaboo. No way! What absolutely killed it for me was that silly ditsy little brake clip, exactly where fiddle-fingered elder siblings would be holding the buggy while we waited to cross the road etc.

Style over substance IMO, and highly dubious style too.

I bought our Bugaboo (Gecko) because it's functional (love the 2 wheel mode in deep snow), light weight, forward and rearfacing, and overall really practical.
Seeing as we never needed another buggy, the daugher is now 28 months, and it will certainly cope with child 2.0 I think it was money well invested. Wasn't even aware of any celebrity endorsement when we chose it (husband fell in love with it, calling it a "man pram"), but then I'm not reading OK etc.

I actually thought the other day that it's sad that they don't do a double version. Am not surprised that it sells.

The one I bought was far sturdier, an all terrain type model with suspension etc, also came with more accessories, which would be used too. The material was thicker and seemed like it would be easier to clean (never actually tried to clean anything off a bugaboo so can't be sure) also had little features like a hood which pulled all way down and connected with front of puschair for windy but not rainy weather (not sure I've explained that very well) that has a window in it. Mainly though to be honest it was a really chunky all terrain pram/pushchair, which to be fair wouldn't suit everyone as it is bulky and heavier than most but was definitely worth the extra money as you were simply getting more for it.

I had a Bugaboo for dd3 and it was the only pram/pushchair we needed for her.
But go ahead OP - have a shot at attacking the pram other parents buy if it makes your socks roll up and down

I love my Bugaboo Chameleon and will be gutted when DD2 finally outgrows it - I may take to pushing my cats round the village in it :)

Oh and 'all terrain' - so what terrain did you trek to? Sahara, Antartica, The Outback - or Bluewater and country roads?

YABU - I looove my Bugaboo, has lasted two dc's and have seen my friends go through 2 or 3 cheaper buggies so think it is good value.

You can buy similar accessories for the bugaboo range, too, if you want them. Not sure why being heavy is positive in your book.

As for cleaning - chuck the fabric into the washing machine, and it dries in no time, too.

Northern, we do a LOT of walks in the country in particular on hilly, rough and uneven ground and I have on occasion used our other buggy which is mamas and Papas and no good at all for such walks so there is a difference if you do a lot of the type of walks I've mentioned before you start posting 'clever' messages.

If you don't agree that's fine, I asked if I was being unreasonable and of course some will think I am, but suggesting a flimsy buggy will do the same as what I have is quite simply wrong.

another happy bugaboo user, have a frog that i have used for four children and its still going strong, absolutely LOVE it, has been WELL used but lasted and still comes up looking new now when i can be bothered to chuck the covers etc in the washing machine.

i have a daily treck across a field for school run and its fine, has been up and down hills, on trains, the underground, the beach, through snow etc and has been absolutely fantastic.

far far better than the britax travel system we bought for ds1 (which incidentally cost more than the bugaboo)

and its not flimsy at all!

Lockers - it was purely because of the article I've attached. It would seem people haven't even seen this latest bugaboo but have bought it anyway, so surely in the main that has to be due to the fact celebrities have it etc. I struggle to believe that many people who actually spent time looking and researching it would buy it, of course it suits some people perfectly but this has sold out before it's release.

How much? Oh my. Do people really pay that? Is it gold plated?

I could get something that lasts from birth to toddler, goes over any terrain easily, fits through doors and gaps, lightweight, has a hood, folds up small and is easy to clean for under £50, easily.

Out of the (obscene amount) of buggies I've used, the Bugaboo Chameleon is the best I've used!

Worth every last penny and more!!

bugaboo imo is a good product,and think new product looks great - id love one.may well succumb when i see in the flesh shop

Sorry, didn't mean to imply the Bugaboo in particular was flimsy, I was generalising about other pushchairs in comparison to the sort I ended up buying. I know what I had wouldn't suit many people due to it's bulk, I'm just trying to say in the op that I don't get the bugaboo fascination especially given the cost in comparison to other brands.
