Has anyone else seen the new advert from Boots the chemist advertising pain relief, its the one where man and women are in bed and the man is kissing the woman's arm and shoulder and she is about to say not tonight dear i have a headache and the man shakes a packet of paracetamol or something similar at her, and the message is "be prepared", i don't like it, it seems to me to have the message, we are going to have sex whether you like it or not and if you think your bottling out with the old chestnut of a headache you are mistaken!! OK i know i may be being a tad dramatic but as soon as i saw it i just thought ugh, bit icky!!Am i being a prude?

I didnt like it either. If that's how your relationship is is real life - it would be time to end it!

Not being a prude, I don't like the message it's putting across either.

all boots ads are crap but agree this is particularly so

I've not seen this one but from your description it is pretty grim.

I don't know if you have ever seen What Women Want (the World's most mysogynist film ever) but Mel Gibson's character suggests a similar advertising campaign for Advil.

It's a truly awful ad with a nasty message behind it.

What's worse, the line at the end: Pain relief from only 16p. So, yes, 16p is all it'll take to persuade your missus to shag you, should the silly thing use the old chestnut of having a headache.

Vile ad in a whole series of misogynistic shite from Boots

I didn't like it either, the message if gave made me feel uneasy tbh.

Yep Poncey - this is the same woman who was in the Boots ad where her and another woman were struggling along being ill because their poor baby-men were suffering man-flu...

I have never used the old headache excuse, if I am not in the mood I say so...

Get your hands off me I am going to sleep Grin

Would any of you have complained had the ad been reversed? Ie, the man having a 'headache' and the woman offering meds? Or the man not being 'capable' and the woman offering Viagra?

It's a sodding joke FFS!

Yanbu.

Most Boots ads are fucking insulting.

All that here come the girls shit.

All boots ads are rubbish. The two women on the street banging on about their busy lives and how one's DH has a cold makes me cringe (actually I always picture them coming home at night and having a good whinge on MN!).

Thankfully I haven't this one, but it sounds like a new low in the misogynist shite they've been plying for ages.

I saw it for the frist time last night, and thought the exact same - yes they are playing on an old, tired, joke but it came over as ''I'm having you whether you want it or not!''.

YANBU, it's really unfunny.

Haven't seen it but really hated the one over Xmas about women being ill and doing everything still whilst men were ill but in bed. Urgh. Still annoys me.
