To ask what your answer would be- How many numbers are there between 1 and 5?

Well 3 or 5 are valid. Can't really find a justification for 4.

3 for the numbers between exclusive
5 for the numbers between inclusive

Without specifying exclusive or inclusive I'd say either answer is correct.

My instinct is 3 but "between 1 and 5" could mean 5-1=4.

i was told:

3 (2,3,4)
4 (2,3,4,5) 1 isnt a number its a primary number (still a number in my mind)
5 (1,2,3,4,5)

This is why I dont have a maths GCSE and can barely subtract.

Actually, you didn't specify that it's natural numbers only, so the answer is 'an infinite number of real numbers'.

there are an infinite number of numbers between 1 and 5, it just depends how many decimal places you want to go down to.
but I suspect that is a gcse/alevel maths answer. If you are 6 years old, the answer is 3. I think. maybe.

1 is a number, so is squrt(2), so is pie, so is e, so is i, so is 1/3 and so is 0.12566664.

That is a prime, irrational, imaginary, real or whatever they are all still numbers.

1 isn't considered a prime number anyway.

1 is "primary number" then 2, 3and 5 are out too, which leaves 4, so just one number

How numbers between 1 and 5 (for school children before they learn fractions), Between so you take out 1 and 5 (doesn't matter if 1 is a primary or not ), it leaves 2, 3 and 4.
