So my dh bought me a slanket.....

as a christmas present .... Not my main Xmas pressie - part of my stocking ...
Am IBU to feel that he sees me as sexless and pretty unattractive ? I'm only 38 FGS!
I have recently had a baby so am very self conscious about my body and whether he sees me as woman or mummy .. But still ...

A SLANKET ?????

What was your main present? I really wouldn't be happy with that and I'm speaking as one who has a dh who is not great at present buying!!

I have to point out Christmas Pressies to my H, I think it's quite a sensible pressy considering the weather and the baby. Does that make me sad??

My DP brought me one last year, he knows i suffer with insomnia so some nights I am literally up all night and he knows I read or watch tv during these times so he gt it so i was comfortable and warm.

Im sure your husband can see the difference between the sexy, attractive you and the Mum and woman who needs to rest in comfort and warmth now and again. I wouldn't worry.

I got the cheapie version of this from my DM, and so far I'm thinking it's the static it generates that's supposed to keep me warm...

I don't know how you should feel. For me, I'd be pretty chuffed if my DP got me a slanket, as he knows how utterly freezing I get during the day, and how often I have to run a hot bath to warm up my fingers/toes. It would therefore be a thoughtful present.

and

a bath mat

and my main present was delivered today.

I dread to think what Dh thinks of me!

She's not being silly!! A slanket is a crap present - shouldn't even be given as a present -rather something that is just bought to have in the house, not given to oh as a present, iykwim?

kayah - well thats his reasoning - that it has been very very cold and he wanted me to be warm ...
But he could have got me a snuggly dressing gown couldn't he ?
Doesn't a slanket say " middle aged slobbing on the couch woman who has let herself go completely "?

Aarggh - or am I being super sensitive ?

Main pressie was a lush handbag - of my favourite brand
so can't complain about gifts at all
just upset about what it is about me that makes him think a slanket is something I'd like....

As you recently had a baby, you could wear it backwards for night time breastfeeding sessions, maybe, so you don't, you know, get cold arms...

I am 29 and would LOVE to get a slanket. It is the type of thing I would love to 'just buy to have in the house' but literally cannot afford/justify even the cheapo version.

So, on that note, YABU

I'm a 29 year old Slanket owner/lover. I like wearing glam clothes and going to nice bars, but god, when I get through my door, kick off the stilettoes and get with my slanket.

Well thats nice!... er no, it doesnt.. it says someone who wants to be nice and cosy and warm when its minus fecking ten outside....

If he had bought you a shopping trolley, or a pair of sheepskin slippers then maybe I could understand the indignation.. but slankets are for anyone... most of the parents I know bought one for their daughters who are in their teens and twenties!

I've just googled to find out what a slanket is and I think they look rather comfy. If DH got me that, I wouldn't be offended. I'd think he wanted me to be warm while watching BBC Breakfast in the mornings.

Then again, I spend lots of my time slobbing around in Asda mens pyjamas with no make-up and DH doesn't seem to care at all. He still finds me sexy - I can never understand it!!

I would love a slanket, but I am a couch potato and a terrible slob. I got Bedroom Athletics furry Ugg-type slippers that I asked for and am made up.

I can see how it could be misconstrued, mind you, but then I would have been pissed off at getting a fridge as my present. Household goods are verboten in our house: the day I get a Hoover for Xmas is the day DH gets his marching orders. And for similar reasons, I may not buy him smellies.
