KaraStarbuckThrace Fri 31-Dec-10 14:04:34

I had this when I ordered my DH's DSI XL for his birthday - it took 3 days!
Fortunately I was able to buy it else where for the same price.
I have to say the returns process was very easy and Amazon did credit back the money very quickly.

SpannerPants Fri 31-Dec-10 14:06:14

Don't get me started on Amazon - I spent 30 mins on the phone complaining to them yesterday because their next day delivery took 3 days to be delivered! They've finally refunded the £8.99 delivery charge but I'm still angry

FIMBOisfirstfootin2moro Fri 31-Dec-10 14:08:12

I was even on that prime thing and it still took 3 days to arrive.

I'm really sorry but I have nothing but a good experiences of Amazon delivery service.blush

Last week during the heavy snow period I ordered some books that I would need to use from my work, expecting them to arrive within a fortnight. They arrived at 9 a.m the next day after my order was processed at 4 p.m. Damn shame as now I'll have to do the workgrin

CokeFan Fri 31-Dec-10 15:08:13

Yeah - we've got prime and were expecting something delivered yesterday. No sign yet.

Also expecting another 2 deliveries (preordered a while ago) from Amazon today and some photos from bonusprint but so far nothing... and no ordinary post either.

When I worked FT I used to think we needed a Housewife at home to be in for deliveries. Now I'm a SAHM I reckon we could do with a Receptionist at home instead smile

panettoinydog Fri 31-Dec-10 15:11:15

Ask for your refund of the delivery charge. It's christmas and new year. I'm not surprised they cannot guarantee one day delivery.

mrz Fri 31-Dec-10 15:28:53

I ordered 2 books for work at lunchtime Wednesday and they arrived yesterday (not prime)

vanitypear Fri 31-Dec-10 16:13:57

honestly - I think you'll find it's the good old royal mail at fault. I ordered quite a few amazon things in the lead up to Christmas - normally they are excellent - for some reason everything went by RM, was dispatched with normal efficiency by Amazon and then RM took 3-4 days to deliver.
RM tried to deliver one special delivery item (gifts for the family) on 23rd - when we went with the card to the sorting office they said it would not be back til 30th at earliest.... Royal Mail is hopeless.

MollieO Fri 31-Dec-10 16:20:34

Duffy same here. Kindle ordered on 26/12 with Amazon Prime. Delivery 30/12. Stil waiting. The cover I ordered at the same time with the same delivery date and method arrived yesterday on time. Difference being a third party supplier through Amazon. I don't think it is royal mail's fault in this instance I think the blame lies fairly and squarely with Amazon.

I don't understand why the send normal books via courier and a Kindle through the post. I go on holiday this weekend and ordered it specifically for that. Thoroughly fed up with Amazon and I shall be making a complaint.

Tootlesmummy Fri 31-Dec-10 16:27:29

It probably won't help MollieO but did you know John Lewis also sell Kindles so if there is one nearby you could nip there and buy one and then return the one to Amazon when it arrives?

panettoinydog Fri 31-Dec-10 16:39:42

john lewis sold out in edinburgh and not expecting more for a few days.

Royal Mail have always been brilliant for me.

DuffyMoon Fri 31-Dec-10 16:41:46

my heart sank when I saw it was coming via Royal Mail tbh.....and no track and trace of course. Now I wont get it until at least Tuesday and I WANT MY NEW TOY... sad

Still waiting for eldest DD's Xmas pyjamas to be delivered via Royal Mail too FFS...they will be Easter pyjamas at this rate angry

Mumi Fri 31-Dec-10 17:48:38

MollieO - same with DP.
He ordered with Prime 1-day on the 26th and it was despatched on the 27th for a delivery on the 30th, but he's still waiting! No tracking number either.
He had better service from standard delivery only days beforehand.

A lot of things have been sent by RM, as City Link the prime carrier and that of one day delivery couldn't cope. So before people start slating RM, It was Amazon's only hope in most cases of trying to deliver as City link haven't been in many cases and not responding to customers or Amazon themsleves.

They still have pallets stuck outside warehouses full of gifts ordered around the 14th-15th on one day service!!! Mine included.

City link suspended deliveries to scotland, still kept taking parcels on a one day basis and not moving them from the collection depot. Amazon had to start sending things by RM, as CL switched their phones off, stopped answering emails and stopped speaking to Amazon on "their" line.

Sure parcels by RM have been late, at least they show up give or take a few days. My parcels are stuck in a depot no where near Scotland and I'm in the south. City Link have basically been hoarding parcels and not delivering. It's all over the Amazon site.

classydiva Fri 31-Dec-10 18:29:41

YOu cannot expect in the weather conditions we have had to get your items next day.

A special delivery item was sent to me on 23rd December, it still has not arrived.

LunaticFringe Fri 31-Dec-10 18:33:21

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Opinionatedfreak Fri 31-Dec-10 18:37:37

I could have written this post. I ordered my kindle on the 27th (via Prime) and it was meant to arrive yesterday.

No sign of it.

I'm really cross/disappointed. If they weren't going to get it delivered they should have given me a sensible estimate of delivery .......not got my hopes up.

lucky1979 Fri 31-Dec-10 19:01:37

emmyloulou - utter tangent, but when you say, it's all over the amazon site, where? Is there a forum or something? People have said this before but I've never been able to find any form of chat/discussion section. Am I just being dense?

TotorosOcarnina Fri 31-Dec-10 19:03:37

I ordered a tonka truck on DEC 14TH and its still not here!!

emmyloulou Fri 31-Dec-10 19:03:51

Google Amazon deals forum

ammiecrimbles Fri 31-Dec-10 19:17:03

Hubby ordered me a Kindle for Christmas on the 6th of December and it was due to be delivered on the 11th. Still no sign of it and Amazon are just saying to give it a couple more weeks. hmm

werewolf Fri 31-Dec-10 19:23:16

I ordered something on free supersaver delivery on 28 Dec, supposed to get here by 11 Jan.

It arrived today with RM.

emmyloulou Fri 31-Dec-10 19:31:04

Ss is thw way to go, I cancelled prime as my stuff gets here quicker by ss!

MollieO Fri 31-Dec-10 19:32:32

I thought about JL but none in stock. I don't actually want a Kindle. I only bought one because I am going on holiday this weekend, have hurt my back so can't ski and didn't want to carry a load of heavy books. I won't use the Kindle other than when I fly on holiday and this will most probably be our only flying holiday in 2011.

What is worse is the comment from Amazon on the invoice for the cover saying that the packages were sent separately for expeditious service.

I reckon it has nothing to do with a delay by royal mail but everything to do with a supply problem at Amazon that they aren't admitting to.
