AIBU?

AIBU to want to keep fairy lights on my mantelpiece?

I live in an Edwardian house (1907) and my living room has a bay window with the original stained glass - very pretty. It has a lovely mahogany fireplace with tiled insert and I have a real fire.

At Christmas I put fairy lights on the mantelpiece and they look so lovely I want to keep them there all year round.

I'm being unreasonable, aren't I? It's just it's going to look so bloody dull when I take all the lights down.

Please let me keep just those!

YANBU. Keep them. There's no law to say fairy lights are exclusively Christmassy. Xmas Smile

When I was a student, I had fairy lights in the bedroom, on the ceiling.
If it makes you happy, keep them up all year round. Or until the spring really gets going. Smile

YANBU. Keep them. They will be twinkly and gorgeous. And if you get fed up with them you can always take them down ...

I have star lights around my bookcase and fairy lights on the mantlepiece through sheer bloody laziness after I couldn't be arsed taking down Christmas decorations a few years ago. They are luverrly though.

Keep them up, if they look pretty and you like them why not? :)

YANBU

I have a lovely brick fireplace but no fire. Currently got white fairy lights in two huge glass jars with some glass beads in too in the fireplace and I've decided they're staying even when Christmas is over.

I still have last year's lights round the mirror in the hall. Grin
They are not totally Christmassy, like the crystal drop thingies on a chandelier! They cheer up the hall enormously.

YANBU. Funnily enough, we have a string of silver metal stars with lights in our kitchen and I said to DH tonight that I would like to keep them.

I also need to get some lights for the fireplace in DD's playroom - it is an original fireplace which we can't have an open fire in, so I intend to get some logs and a string of fairy lights to nestle in the logs to brighten it up.
