AIBU?

To think I deserve more than just delivery charge refunded (warning: rant)

just got my Tesco delivery and ALL my meat for Christmas and boxing day 'was unavailable', as well as my short crust pastry, chicken liver for pate, and my toffee pudding.
I placed the order a week ago and even checked it last night on line. the meat and pudding said next to them that I could not change the quantity of them in my order as those items had been reserved for me so AIBU to think that they actually would?
when I called to complain was told its what's on the shelf on the day. so what's the freakin point of pre ordering?
now I have to go out with my 3mo dd, and me with mastitis, on Christmas eve to try and get something when I was going to be spending that time doing prep. and that's if I can even find anything in the shops, we'll probably wind up with a boring old chicken.
I'm raging!!!!!!!

They physically send a person around teh store to do your shopping. To be honest if you really wanted the stuff you should have gone in and bought it yourself to be assured of it.

Why should they refund more? For what reason? Because you too lazy to go get your own?

Tough huh!

Oh, Fabbychic, you are full of the fucking Christmas cheer aren't you?

My Tesco shop came today and I was expecting subs, I never normally get them but their deliveries to store are affected.

Go out and give the snow a kicking, not Tesco. They are doing their best.

Fabbychic - why so angry?

Chillichill - rage away, you have good reason to be raging. Rage here all you like. You poor thing, I hope you can make it to the shops and you find the things you need

Are you a little bit bored Fabby? If not, put on your santa hat and fucking smile - you'll feel so much better.

OP, it's not on - if they say that they've pre-ordered the stuff you do expect it to be there. I'd be fuming too tbh. Hope you manage to get your Christmas meal Smile

o understand that Fabby, then why tell me those items are reserved for me? of I knew they weren't I would have written in substitutes. and I'm not f-ing lazy, I have a young baby and no car, doing a Christmas shop by bus really isn't an option.
and yes, I think I deserve a voucher of some sort, it would be good customer service and insure I continue to shop with them rather than Asda, who I will be using next time.

Tesco did this to me yesterday - but tried to say it was all there and charged me for it! They are now kindly refunding me the £60 they owe me Shock but of course it will take time to go back into my account. Meanwhile I had to redo the christmas shop with a 4, 2 and 4 month old.

They have tried to tell me they wont refund my delivery charge of £5 - they are going to regret that!

HecTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 23/12/2010 17:33

Oh. Don't use asda! Asda are bloody crap! Honestly. I had orders cancelled, items missing. Asda never got one single order right for me! If you switch to asda you'll regret it!

Funny - I've had more problems with Tesco than with Asda. Never had much go wrong with Asda

This is exactly why we didn't bother booking a Christmas supermarket delivery. With the notable exception of Ocado, they always have loads of missing items and nonsensical 'substitutions'. YANBU to be angry, but you ARE being unrealistic and unreasonable to expect to have got all the stuff you ordered.

We have booked a table at our local curry house for Christmas day this year. We simply couldn't be arsed with the horror that is Christmas food shopping.

OP, that's shit, and I do sympathise.

But... if you've shopped online before, then surely you know that they literally walk round the shop and then bring it to your house. There are no separate stocks for those who pre-ordered. And really, given what the weather's been doing, and given what the news has been saying, did you really expect them to have the exact things you wanted? I'm afraid I think that's rather naive of you...

We deliberately didn't do an online shop this week - decided we'd be better off actually going to the shop (kids and all) so that we would be in the position to choose from what they actually have.

Hope you get it sorted though.

wow peppa, give them hell, not on.
usually do online and used to subs but it said that the items were reserved for me and as I'd never seen that before I assumed it was to insure folk got their Christmas food.
thanks for the sympathy, ill hopefully find something nice.

Actually they don't necessarily send a person round I think it depends where you live - in London anyway it doesn't come from a store but from a big distribution centre - they call it a "dark store".

Also lots of my items came with stickers with my name printed on them.

No no no no, as others have said DON'T swap to Asda, they are hopeless - but Ocado are really very good and very rarely have any missing items or substitutions - very very rarely. We were too tight to pay the £9 Christmas week delivery charges tho.

Tesco do this sort of nonsence all year round. You are entitled to be really annoyed about it because it is totally shit. I only ordered online from Tesco when I was really ill and struggling with a number of difficulties and they were atrocious. Missing items, poorly substituted items, items not ordered. Really annoying. Never again!

Report
chillichill · 23/12/2010 17:40

don't have ocado in Edinburgh :(
like I said, I only expected it cause it said it was reserved. why add that in? other items I had ordered showed as unavailable when I checked last night so I got other things. why couldn't they tell me that with my meat?

Ocado price match Tesco - so I flit between the two.

Some of the Christmas stuff had 'this has been pre ordered for you' written on it and also said that you could not therefore change the quantity. You could still have cancelled the order though, so presumably Tescos have under ordered, so they don't end up with a surplus.

It is shit for you though OP. Have you got an M&S near you? I was in there yesterday and they still had loads of nice stuff on the shelves.
