Two days ago I started with the flu. I am 27 and have never had flu before. I know lots of people love to say "its not lu just a bad cold" but seriously, I feel like Im dying. I have been barely able to walk. I am so very very cold but hot at the same time, the bed has been soaked with sweat and I have not eaten since Tuesday morning. I can only manage warm lemonade and ribena. Yesterday DD was booked in at nursery as planned (she finished school last week) but obviously I didnt go to work, I just slept.

This morning I had arranged for DD to go to MIL's (thinking Id be at work), DP annonced this morning that as I wasnt going to work, he wasnt going to take DD to his mums, it wasnt necessary. Bearing in mind Im still in the pj's I put on Tuesday afternoon and can hardly raise my head from the bed. Poor DD has been a good girl all day I did manage to get up and fix her some snacks and she has snuggled with me in my bed with Cbeebies on for a large portion of the afternoon. Then he calls me up all cheery like an hour ago announcing he is getting fish and chips would I like some? Why does everything stop when he is ill but for me I must get on with it? I am furious and he can cook Christmas dinner.

Definitely not BU. What a selfish git.

didldidi Thu 23-Dec-10 17:14:30

No not at all - twat.

coldtits Thu 23-Dec-10 17:14:33

ream him out about it. How DARE he cancel what YOU had arranged because the Great ANd Mighty Penis doesn't think it's necessary!

They do sometimes have a slightly warped sense of reality....I bet if he's ill things are slightly different?

headfairy Thu 23-Dec-10 17:15:32

Of course, you do know what to do when he's next ill don't you? Make sure your dd is home all day then pop out all day for some errands.

diddl Thu 23-Dec-10 17:16:23

Perhaps MIL would still have like to see her GD?

IAmReallyFabNow Thu 23-Dec-10 17:16:54

Probably because you allow it.

He is a twat. He has no right to cancel your mil having your dd.

Stand up for yourself.

JodiesMummy Thu 23-Dec-10 17:16:59

He made sure DD went to nursery Wed because we had paid in advance (he is a bit tight) ut going to his mums meant going out of his way and she proababy didnt want DD anyway as she will be in full Christmas preparation mode (wish I was), but they have made me feel like Im playing up and making a fuss. I am never ill! Really, I was at Asda 4.30 Tuesday morning getting the food shop for Christmas, then went to work at 8 - its rare for me to be ill.

lololizzy Thu 23-Dec-10 17:17:11

yeh wait till he has MANFLU ha

GeorgeWHollyBush Thu 23-Dec-10 17:17:18

what an arse.

remember this the next time he's ill.

WhatsWrongWithYou Thu 23-Dec-10 17:18:59

Why didn't you say 'no way, I need to sleep today, DD goes to your mum's?'

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow Thu 23-Dec-10 17:21:52

I'd sneeze into his cornflakes if I were you grin

yes, this

JodiesMummy Thu 23-Dec-10 17:24:46

I tried WWWY but he just went to work.

He has just told me MIL didnt want DD all day thats why he didnt take her. So now Im angry with MIL and DH. Twats. Not going to be making ANY EFFORT with either of them over Christmas now.

LadyintheRadiator Thu 23-Dec-10 17:25:57

Show him this thread. He sounds like an arse tbh. Is he always this thoughtless, careless, and selfish? And is his mother?

PrincessScrumpy Thu 23-Dec-10 17:28:47

We always end up ill at the same time or just as I'm recovering he gets it.

DH is usually good, but we both had a tummy bug so DD (who was fine) went to the CM (she picked her up for us). She dropped her home for me at 3.30pm (usual pick-up time) and I laid on the sofa while DD played (she was just 2). I cooked her dinner - which was the last thing I felt like doing. I got her in the bath at bedtime and went storming into our bedroom and yelled at DH - I was fuming that he hadn't come down at all. I knew how he felt as I felt like it too. When he said "But I feel terrible" I couldn't believe it - I pointed out, no matter how ill we feel DD still needs feeding and to be taken care of!

Since then, he had been better and last time I was ill he went into work late so he could drop DD at CMs and then agreed to pay CM to have DD until he got home at 6.30pm! I still cooked dinner though! (only beans on toast).

JodiesMummy Thu 23-Dec-10 17:29:24

His mother has been pouring the sugary sweet texts through all day "Is there anything you need" etc "DD will amuse herself shes good at that" sort of thing, but seriously, if cleaning up and polishing her christmas tree is more important than helping me out with her only GC for a day when I really need it they can fuck right off.

DP has just asked me not to ruin Christmas. And I ate one chip (first food since Tues morn) and he had a smirk on his face like "you cant be that bad then". Twat.

diddl Thu 23-Dec-10 17:31:04

Ooh I´d ruin his fucking Christmas-I´d leave!

JodiesMummy Thu 23-Dec-10 17:32:02

What annoys me more is that MIL was ill last week and I asked her if she still felt bad to stay at home last weekend - I had work and stuff and was too busy to get ill - and she still insisted on coming over last weekend, which is probably when I caught this.

I just hope DH and DD dont come down with this, its truly awful. I will be dumping DH on his mums doorstep for sure.

Gluconeogenesis Thu 23-Dec-10 17:33:55

I clicked on this thread wanting to know what it's like to be literally fuming! Is this a new symptom of the influenza virus?

In all seriousness, I am sorry you are feeling rotten. I had the bastard H1N1 last year and thought I might die. Luckily I went to stay with my mum who waited on me hand and foot, soothed my fevered brow and rubbed my sweaty back. All of which your DH should be doing for you now.

TheCrackFox Thu 23-Dec-10 17:34:06

I hope your dH comes down with it on Christmas Day - leave him to fester in bed with no sympathy, snacks and drinks. What an arse.

whoknowswhatthefutureholds Thu 23-Dec-10 17:34:56

well to be fair to your MIL she doesn't have to take her all day (mind I'mm jealous no one would look after my 3 if I were ill!)

narkypuffin Thu 23-Dec-10 17:35:06

Wait until he's asleep and breathe on him. A lot.

JodiesMummy Thu 23-Dec-10 17:35:25

Glucon - he had chucked me some Lucozade, and Paracetamol and gone to take DD sledging. Fecking arsehole.
