evil daily mail story here

Yes, I wouldn't take out a £1500 loan to pay for Christmas but providing she can pay it off (like she did the last one) then it's up to her.

Have a lovely Christmas if you're reading (and your children are very beautiful) Xmas Smile

Honestly, I couldn't give a fuck about their Christmas.

I dunno if I am honest. I feel sad that the situation is such that she literally would be worse off if she took a job rather than being on benefits - and I can therefore sort of understand why she'd prefer to be at home looking after her children than going out to work only to be worse off. In that sense I think it's a bit of a non-story.

The thing that annoyed me though was that she was with a violent abusive partner, yet continued to have children with him despite (by her own admission) the relationship being horribly destructive and very off and on:

"I thought we?d be together for ever. But he cheated on me and was violent - he?d smash up the house,? she explains. ?It was on-off, on-off for a long time, but we finally split up after he hit me and I thought: ?I?m not standing for that.? ?

She did, however, let him back into her bed on one further occasion two years later, when Billy, now four, was conceived.
It rather begs the question, though, that if she knew how unstable the relationship was why continue to have children ? in particular, the one who was conceived a good two years after they had finally ?split for good?.

?I was young and naïve and every time I got pregnant he would tell me he was going to change,? she says. ?Plus I?m a damn good mum. Why shouldn?t I have more kids if I wanted them??"

I don't know why but this really makes me cross. I know many women get into a situation with a violent partner and have children to unsuitable partners, but it just seems a bit shocking to me that she kept having children with this man!

Having said all this, I hate the Daily Mail and wouldn't put it past them to cobble together loads of sensationalist shite.

I think she has been EXYTREMELY stupid to allow herself and her children to be photographed for the Daily Mail.

I don't think I have ever read a more snide article.

Do feel very sorry for her that her rubbish X left her with four kids and do see why it would be hard to work with 4 kids but why the need for designer trainers and X Box's. The kids are still quite young they don't need things like this to have a lovely christmas. No child NEEDS these things to have a lovely christmas.

no they don't, but the taxpayers are not paying out ANY MORE MONEY than if she had given them each a lump of coal. She got a LOAN, and that loan has to be cleared out of the benefits she would have received ANYWAY.

But of course, the Daily Heil isn'#t going to make sure it's readers understand that

She's getting a hard time, but what about the children's father?
He's not paying anything towards the up-keep of HIS four children, yet the DM have a go at the mum.
So it's fine to be violent & abusive, abandon your family, but heaven forbid you should find it difficult to get a job & childcare for 4 kids while on your own, and try and make sure your children have a nice christmas.
SHEESH.

I do think the following:

a) its sad that she has little incentive to work due to the way the benefits system is structured

b) her XH should be paying for everything not the state, they are his 4 children

c) she had child number 4 and maybe number 3 also when the relationship wasn't working out. Child number 1 by her own admission was also contraceptive failure.

d) benefits must be set too high if she could clear her last years christmas loan including interest AND save £1,500 towards this years christmas out of her benefit money

she is,however,an idiot for letting them do this article.
and obviously the kids dont need all that crapola, but it's no-one elses business.

I expect the kids would have a better christmas if they had a father who gave a fuck about them, rather than x boxes and designer clothes!

How awful to put gifts in the children's arms to pose for a photo. Media manipulation at it's worst.

still at least the amount she gets in benefits looks about right - which makes a change for the DM.

It annoys me that the benefit system makes it more financially attractive to do nothing, than to work. Which is why I think that some kind of 'Welfare to Work' system should be put in place, as in the United States, whereby if you claim benefits, you must work in some kind of job or undertake training for a career.

Yes, the father is clearly a feckless idiot. But then again, she chose to have four children with the feckless idiot.

good luck to here and her family, plenty of kids get very little, why do you think they have shoe box appeals cos some parents would rather spend money on drugs/drink

atleast shes spending on the kids

maybe she goes mad at xmas and very little the rest of the year, bit daft to get a lone but her choice and they all look happy

so good luck to her and her family, and shes only getting basic benefits no inflated ones like DLA,carers etc so shes not exactly raking it in

let the flame commence

Many working people do not have that sort of money this Christmas. The bank stopped my overdraft and refused me a loan when i had my days at work drastically cut. I would have the BIGGEST relief if i still had access to those things. She should have just kept all this to herself. Not fair to the kiddies if she gets yelled at in the street..i wonder why she agreed to this article.

#"Eloise does, at least, hope to train as a midwife once her children are all in full-time education, and she insists she has no plans to spend the rest of her life receiving handouts"

So basically - as is quite common - having a pre-schooler as a single parent can make it financially in-viable to work. But once her youngest starts school (next year I'm guessing if he's 4 now) - she's intending to wokr.

Oh - just like me.

I think it is sad that she feels she has to spend so much money as a substitute to happiness. Regardless of where the money comes from.

And I do think it is frustrating for her that she does feel better off on benefits - it is a trap!

Contraceptive failure can and does happen and I wouldn't dream of condemning someone for that. But at the end of the day she chose to have 4 kids to someone who was violent and abusing her, and clearly doesn't give a fuck about them Sad
