to tell DH I think it's mad for us to set out in a blizzard in the car with a 12wo and a 3yo?

For a visit to friends? They live 45mins away (in good traffic/weather) and it involves going on the M25. Terrified having seen news footage from last couple of weeks that we will break down/get stuck in the blizzard and all freeze. If we didn't have 12wo DD I wouldn't be so concerned. Am I being a drama queen?

YANBU, I would ring and arrange it for another time tbh, not worth the hassle.

MayDayChild Sat 18-Dec-10 14:22:24

Dont go
Turn on LBC radio!!!!
Stay well away from M25

nickeldonkeycarrymary Sat 18-Dec-10 14:22:47

YANBU.

I'm sitting here in the shop and it's just coming down.

I would not be travelling on the M25 today.

werewolf Sat 18-Dec-10 14:23:36

I would cancel.

CMOTdibbler Sat 18-Dec-10 14:23:42

yanbu - I would not be going anywhere today, esp with a tiny baby

I have just had a text from someone who says the M25 "is a car park".

Totally irresponsible to go - once you are stuck in a car park on ice, you either keep your engine running to avoid freezing to deathand then run out of petrol, or you just freeze to death.

MegBusset Sat 18-Dec-10 14:25:44

Yanbu, it's not a day for unnecessary driving esp with a young baby. Stay warm at home, I'm sure your friends will understand.

Georgimama Sat 18-Dec-10 14:26:41

Of course not. Just don't go. Phone your friend and cancel.

nbee84 Sat 18-Dec-10 14:26:51

I'm sure your friends would rather that you cancelled and stayed safe.

DeckTheHallWithBowlsOfPomBears Sat 18-Dec-10 14:27:11

YANBU. It would be crazy to set out.

Georgimama Sat 18-Dec-10 14:27:25

Actually I'd be surprised if they're still expecting you to turn up.

Can you get on that website which gives real time images from traffic cameras - is it the Highways Agency?

Anyone know?

Rupreckt Sat 18-Dec-10 15:02:31

Do not do it!!

jellybeans Sat 18-Dec-10 15:06:55

YANBU, cancel it.

We've just cancelled a big evening out - please don't go out unless you really have to. Being stuck overnight in your car in freezing conditions is a real possibility.

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights Sat 18-Dec-10 15:19:01

Please don't go.

expatinscotland Sat 18-Dec-10 15:19:57

Don't be daft and go.

Ring them up and cancel.

the website www.trafficengland.co.uk is useful. Type in the motorway and section you want, tick the traffic cam box and you can see exactly what's happening at the moment.
