To find the thought of Camilla being poked with a stick mildly amusing

I know I'm being childish but the thought of it just tickles me somehow.

Sullwah Sun 12-Dec-10 22:50:48

you are being childish

beachyhead Sun 12-Dec-10 22:51:45

I like it too

SantasNutellaFairy Sun 12-Dec-10 22:51:57

Would it be as amusing if it had been a knife?

blushington Sun 12-Dec-10 22:52:57

Not in the context, no

If a little child had poked her with a stick on a walkabout, yes

PaxoIsEvil Sun 12-Dec-10 22:53:04

It is childish, but I sniggered. It's the way that the newsreader reported it.

<extremely solemn face, very serious voice> 'During the attack on the Royal car, it has been confirmed that contact was made with Camilla. Reports that she was poked with a stick have been unconfirmed'

Plus the term 'contact' in this context makes me think of aliens.

TurkeyMartini Sun 12-Dec-10 22:53:37

Seeing a 63-year-old woman being frightened and prodded with a stick amuses you?

I'm no fan of hers but YABAA (an arse)

myleftcrutch Sun 12-Dec-10 22:54:16

<snigger>

Vallhala Sun 12-Dec-10 22:54:45

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Republican I may be, but I don;t wish her any harm. It was just the way in which the incident was reported on the BBC website which made me snigger. Had they said "was assaulted with a stick" or somesuch it would have been fine but the whole idea of poking her with a stick is somehow chuckle-worthy.

Sassybeast Sun 12-Dec-10 22:56:38

YABU - the sight of a screeching mob trying to 'get' to another human being makes my blood run cold.

AngelZigzagsSparklyYuletideLog Sun 12-Dec-10 22:56:55

I desperately tried to rationalise that this was not in the slightest bit funny and like turkey says she must have been scared.

But the way it was reported also got to my completely unreasonable immature side.

Rosebud05 Sun 12-Dec-10 22:57:55

It's shocking - though not surprising - that Camilla being poked with a stick has attracted considerably more coverage than a 20 year old requiring brain surgery and nearly dying as a result of being hit over the head with a truncheon by the police.

AngelZigzagsSparklyYuletideLog Sun 12-Dec-10 22:59:06

What's that about then rosebud?

Beveridge Sun 12-Dec-10 22:59:40

I thought the windows of the car just cracked and didn't actually break? So how did they get the chance to?

tallwivglasses Sun 12-Dec-10 23:00:05

The way the rest of the protest was reported I'm surprised they did use the word 'poked' rather than 'attacked' or 'assualted'.

anonymosity Sun 12-Dec-10 23:00:06

I agree that you're being a total arse.

TheCrackFox Sun 12-Dec-10 23:00:15

Why does everyone say 63yrs like it is old - my mum is 64 and still working full time. Has Camilla ever had a job of any sorts?

tallwivglasses Sun 12-Dec-10 23:00:42

or even 'assaulted'

Beveridge Sun 12-Dec-10 23:01:20

Rosebud - that was going to be my next point.

There were an awful lot of 'sticks' being 'poked' at people that day, I don't see why the media has to dwell on one particular incident.

Goblinchild Sun 12-Dec-10 23:01:46

'I thought the windows of the car just cracked and didn't actually break? So how did they get the chance to?'

Apparently some dimwit inside the car opened the window a bit.

TurkeyMartini Sun 12-Dec-10 23:02:03

Ah I see, well I guess it's true, the wording is a bit funny.

I feel a bit sorry for her though, she got a fright. Wasn't big or clever stuff really. Wouldn't have wanted it to happen to my mum (admittedly unlikely, as she does not hang out in limos with The Establishment)

Has Camilla ever had a job of any sorts?

Dangerous ground, CrackFox... like many MNers she has brought up children whilst her DH paid her bills.

Goblinchild Sun 12-Dec-10 23:03:36

And we all paid his. grin

TheCrackFox Sun 12-Dec-10 23:04:30

I am a SAHM, at the moment, but I worked for 15 yrs before hand and intend to get a job in the next year. Camilla has never worked. i find it very odd.
