I think i have a case of the green eyed monster! Has anyone else had there thunder stolen when they r about to make a big announcement? SIL told everyone she was 2 months pregnant while i was only a couple of weeks pregnant. when i was 3months pregnant i told family and they all thought i only got pregnant because SIL got pregnant. My baby was planned and me and dp have been 2gether 5 years nearly. Brother and SIL(they r not married, I just allways refer to her as SIL)
They were only together 3months when she got pregnant and brother says he thought she was taking the pil.Although i know hes not completley innocent he said he trusted her.
I just want my thunder back :)

Who cares? As long as you both have healthy babies and it will be lovely for them to be cousins so close in age.

I think you have a case of the green eyed monster too! Well done BOTH of you (I was with my partner 3 months when I got pregnant, baby NOT planned - more than a decade later still happy and together...)

I think you and your family need to grow up a bit - it's not a competition.
Congratulations on your pregnancy. Smile

YANBU - if you were ttc and excited about delivering the news this interloper SIL announcement is very thunder stealing.

Maybe a bit unreasonable, but understandable. Congratulations!

Yes, you can blame it on hormones. :)

I think its very off for them to imply you got pregnant "because she did"

YABU.

I knew someone who had been with her DH for 16 years when she got pregnant. Then her DH's brother announced his girlfried of 3 months was pregnant and due 2 weeks after her.

The new girlfriend was a model, had an effortless and practically pain free labour which she went into 3 weeks early and gave birth to the first grandchild of her DH's family and also the first girl after a generation of boys.

2 weeks lady the person I know had a little boy.

She said her thunder was stolen too.

If you're the kind of person that's bothered by that kind of thing, it's going to smart!

Yours is small fry in comparison, but you are both BU!

I have never thought of being pregnant as a "moment"

For me that would be winning an award or getting my book published!

Try to let go of it!! You can't help the way you feel, but really - they didn't mean to steal your thunder! Focus on this.... your baby will have a cousin almost exactly the same age, you and your SIL will both have someone to talk to and moan to and wail to about sleepless nights. It's fabulous for ALL of you and take it from me, having a group of close aged cousins really is brilliant.

My 'thunder' was totally stolen when I was pg with DC3. My SIL had been trying to get pg for ages, multiple miscarriages, then told family she was pg, then she bled and was told she had miscarried the baby and then miraculously found out 10 days after her 'miscarriage' that baby was still there. In the mean time I had found out that I was pg with DC3, but no-one could have been less interested (except me of course!). Now the two boys are just one month apart and it is totally utterly brilliant!

Get used to it now. That baby is going to sleep through before yours, walk before yours, talk before yours, learn to read before yours ...

Well maybe not, with only 2 months between them. But be prepared for endless comparisons from your parents.

On the bright side, it should take the pressure off you nicely around the time of the birth. Yours won't be the first grandchild and hopefully that will mean you'll get a little space!

Yes pinkieminx, felt very miffed as i was and mothers when it was announced and was gutted as we had been trying for over a year and i didnt no i was pregnant at the time.
Had a wobble later in my dp arms but soon cheered up at the thought of a neice or nepthew to coo over. My shock at just over two weeks later was a bigger wobble tho as we were finally going to have a baby!
