cor. I haven't done AIBU for an age, but I am I know I am (bu) and need some get some get a grips and bridge rebuilding tips.

For the last 3 years I have donated a decorated Christmas cake to the school Christmas fair raffle.

Last night I get an e-mail asking for its weight as THE PTA POWERS THAT BE have decided to put it into a 'guess the weight of the cake' comp and not in the raffle.

I know, OUTRAGEOUS isn't it? Man they have a nerve.

So I sent a few hoity e-mails.

Then I went to bed and had a lemsip and now have realised I am a giant precious-cake arse.

Why does this query upset you? Is it that you don't have scale big enough to weigh cake on?

she has cake rage-leave the crazy nice lady alone

Booty, Slubbers is the QUEEN of cakedom and is utterly insulted by the demotion of her cake from Star Prize to mere adjunct to proceedings

or what snice said lol

Guess the weight of the cake = your cake has an event all of its own, it's not just ain the raffle with all the other riff raff.

faverolles · 03/12/2010 13:59

I bet it's 4lbs 8oz.

Do I win?

But Slubber, its an honour - your cake will be star of its own show rather than merely one prize in a raffle.

Guess the weight of cake/name of bear/sweets in jar is more entertaining than buying bloody raffle tickets.

This is surely a promotion, your cake is star of its own show. It is king cake. Who would want to rub shoulders with dodgy bubble bath and bottle of Advocaat, when they can they have their weight guessed?

Report
snice · 03/12/2010 14:04

perhaps you could sit agressively holding your cake and people could guess your combined weight?

Mumwithadragontattoo · 03/12/2010 14:05

I agree with the others - this is a promotion for your cake! Embrace it (not literally!).

YABU - I would much sooner be in a comp like that than be in the raffle.

you're doing this on purpose, aren't you?
so that everyone goes "oooh, you're brilliant"

it's a promotion, dummy. you know the PTA moms are talking about you RIGHT NOW, don't you?

or are you just pissed off that you didn't weigh it before you dropped it off?

Slubberdegullion · 03/12/2010 14:07

yes

exactly what baldy said.

Guess the weights are for jars of horrid sweets, freakazoid sausages and sheep, NOT my beautiful and lovingly created cakes.

In the raffle there are different podiums of importance and last year I got front centre (middle), so ALMOST the top.

Now I'm going to be on a table in year 4 as a sideline to the pass the coat hanger around the buzzing electric wire.

I'm aware that my cakes and I are indeed separate entities but today I have a BAD cold.
