DS age 6, is in year 2. This is his 3rd Christmas school play. Every other year ( and lots more previously) they had done a traditional nativity play or some kind of take on it.
DS is named after one of the main characters, (not Jesus)and was hankering after one of the key roles. Not only has he missed out and is not said character they have changed the format of the play and he's now a kings assistant or something.

How is my PFB going to shine as an assistant?

Silly inclusive theme of Christmas around the world.

"DS is named after one of the main characters" - that'll be Joseph or Gabriel then. Did you specially pick his name so that he would get a part in the nativity six years later? Hmm What about the poor little sods not names after a nativity character - presumably they don't deserve a starring role?

I'm assuming this is a wind up....

I agree. Its a shame that children - whatever they are called - can't be part of this tradition any more.

You are being very unreasonable for calling your son Mary!

Thank the Lord for sending his son and that it's nearly time to break up for bloody Christmas. Grin

Anice - I hardly think this is PC Gorn Mad - they've been doing the traditional nativity for years and are now doing a differnt Christmas play - but clearly poor little Phil Mitchell won't get to play the Innkeeper this year Sad.

DS LOVED being 'Spanish Dancer' in Christmas Round The World'.

DD2, who will be 14 2 days before Christmas will still recite the story of the year (possibly when she was 6) that Mary was jointly played by Alison and Katie, who are blonde. This was particularly unfair as Fatima's dad is Algerian, and has a more suitable 'Mary' look. So dd2 is carrying someone elses's chip on her shoulder!

IME - if children want to be noticed in the nativity Christmas themed entertainment, they will find a way of doing it even if they 'assistant to the third kings assistant'. Usually by pushing their way to the front and shouting 'hello mum' Grin
