So DH went shopping for 'thermal underwear' yesterday. Fair enough thinks I, it's bloomin' cold.

However, instead of coming home looking like this he has bought a 3 pack of these shock

AIBU: surely these 'old man' vests?? It's not thermals I object to, just being married to Albert Steptoe.

So we will abide by MN jury decision - should he put them away for 25 years, or should I accept I am married to an old man?

you have long johns in the picture on the link - they look good - no?

scaryjane Sun 28-Nov-10 14:26:09

I do - oops blush
try this

ChippingIn Sun 28-Nov-10 14:29:06

YANBU - tell him he's not getting his leg over until he gets some modern thermals and ditches the granpa underwear!

EricNorthpolesChristmas Sun 28-Nov-10 14:38:31

Hahahaha My DH wears long johns, he feels the cold poor lamb and works outside. Longjohns are an improvement on my haven't seen anything til you've seen a guy in boxers and tights!

ChippingIn Sun 28-Nov-10 14:41:03

There's nothing wrong with coloured longjohns - white ones (on men) are just 'orrible.

scaryjane Sun 28-Nov-10 14:42:19

I actually wouldn't mind long johns - or even tights - worn by young and old alike to serve a purpose, but these. . .? One step away from here?

YABVU. WHo can see them!? confused let the poor fucker be warm

perfumedlife Sun 28-Nov-10 14:47:36

They just don't seem as warm as the T shirt types either. If you are going to wear thermals, get full benefit, no?

My dh has just kitted himself out in them too. Its a trial getting them off to wash sad He loves them. I think I will take up knitting and join him in geriatric bliss.

CocoPopsAddict Sun 28-Nov-10 14:49:18

Compromise - he should wear them as normal when going out, but needs to remove them well before any potential bedroom action.

scaryjane Sun 28-Nov-10 14:52:12

perfumedlife pmsl @ take up knitting and join him in geriatric bliss grin

cocopops but I can see them through his shirt <the shame>

toddlerama Sun 28-Nov-10 14:56:28

My DH has worn vests like these since I met him when we were teenagers! I ribbed him then and now, but the truth is, he's never cold. He's canadian and they are infinitely more practical about cold weather clothing. You can't see them under clothes and they are now like his signature clothing to me! Embrace the vest!

Secretwishescometrue Sun 28-Nov-10 15:04:29

You are absolutely being unreasonable! My Dh has always worn a vest, totally normal where he's from. It is so frickin cold let the poor man wrap up in peace and don't be makin him all self conscious (says she wearing 4 layers of clothing proudly grin )

ShanahansRevenge Sun 28-Nov-10 15:09:10

My DH is Aussie and is a wimp a bit delicate about the cold weather. He wears all kinds of thermals and I think he looks sexy in them! He DOES have a v good if your husband has a good bod too then he should look good in anything!

Muser Sun 28-Nov-10 15:29:16

Well personally, I wouldn't kick this guy out of bed. Mmm, vesty goodness

scaryjane Sun 28-Nov-10 15:32:19

but where do you draw the line? here?

MrsSchadenfreude Sun 28-Nov-10 15:32:28

My DH calls those "wifebeaters"...

CocoPopsAddict Sun 28-Nov-10 15:32:53

Well, no wonder he needs thermals if his shirts are thin enough to see vests through! I don't know, you could get him some new shirts for Christmas... or better, some thermal tops with sleeves. Warmer, and look better!

whatdoiknowanyway Sun 28-Nov-10 15:35:09

Don't understand the problem. It's cold. Layer up. Or should we all just burn more fossil fuel in the interest of maintaining aesthetic standards?

scaryjane Sun 28-Nov-10 15:37:09

haha - thermal 'porn' underwear grin
ok I'll stop googling thermal underwear images now blush

Muser Sun 28-Nov-10 15:38:14

Oh good lord. I may never have sex again after seeing that scaryjane

scaryjane Sun 28-Nov-10 15:39:27

No, WDIKA certainly not smile, it's what he chooses to layer up with that's the problem!

perfumedlife Sun 28-Nov-10 15:53:53

grin oh brilliant, dh just needs a tash and he's there shock

Dexterrocks Sun 28-Nov-10 16:24:44

Pity me - my husband is growing a tash for Movember AND wears a vest, even when it is not cold, because, apparently, his other clothes itch him. sobs
