Am I being unreasonable to be furious with my sons' guitar teacher who told them that Santa is not real?

Depends. If he's 16, then YABU...

Sorry. No - I'd be cross too. Am presuming DS is quite young.

hocuspontas Thu 25-Nov-10 20:40:45

If they're 5 - no
If they're 15 - yes

SuePurblybiltByElves Thu 25-Nov-10 20:40:45

How old? Actually doesn't matter. He is wrong, Father Christmas is real. Wrong and rude.

lennythelion Thu 25-Nov-10 20:40:46

OMG! YRNBU I'd be furious

nancydrewrocked Thu 25-Nov-10 20:41:39

Well if your son is 15 that seems fair enough

Can't possibly give an opinion on that post - All depends on DS's age context reason....

Hulababy Thu 25-Nov-10 20:41:45

How old? Assuming due to anger they are primary age, although some 11/12yo believe, so even then I would not be impressed.

tripletrouble Thu 25-Nov-10 20:41:46

They are 10 and 8

ninah Thu 25-Nov-10 20:43:01

is he, then?

Hulababy Thu 25-Nov-10 20:43:39

Definitely wouldn't be happy. I think I would have to have a word with the teacher too.

How/why did it even come up?

hocuspontas Thu 25-Nov-10 20:45:03

Maybe he was referring to the ones that hang around town centres? The real one is busy making all the toys - these ones are his helpers.

whoknowswhatthefutureholds Thu 25-Nov-10 20:45:47

I would be fucked off. let him know and make him tell them he was joking.

Ingles2 Thu 25-Nov-10 20:46:13

YABU I'm afraid.
Do you really think your 10yr old had no clue at all???

LoopyLoops Thu 25-Nov-10 20:46:49

You don't honestly think they hadn't already worked that out?

Hulababy Thu 25-Nov-10 20:48:48

I know of plenty of 8y who wholeheartedly believe. Not that unusual. Sadly I think my 8y has figured it out properly this year - although seems happy to go along with it, think she is hedging her bets, just in case.

tripletrouble Thu 25-Nov-10 20:49:16

yes they probably had but she had no business talking to them about it!

PinkIceQueen Thu 25-Nov-10 20:51:25

My 10 year old believes in Father Christmas, he knows the one's in town centres etc are "helpers" the real one is busy in Lapland! YANBU OP.

pointydog Thu 25-Nov-10 21:04:51

How old's the guitar teacher?

Caboodle Thu 25-Nov-10 21:06:45

YANBU - I would be raging.

Nooooooo. Father Christmas not real ??? Noooooooo

PlanetEarth Thu 25-Nov-10 21:25:37

10 and 8? And they really still believed in Father Christmas? confused

LynetteScavo Thu 25-Nov-10 21:27:38

YANBU.

He should keep his beliefs about god and father Christmas to himself.

curlymama Thu 25-Nov-10 21:35:57

Father Christmas is real, and the teacher is wrong. Tell your dc's that she is probably jealous because she was a naughty child that never got any presents.
