My DS (20 months) has just caught (another!!)cold and was up at 3.50 am crying. I went and gave him some calpol and lay him back down. Normally he goes to sleep by himself. Occasionally, when he has a cold, it takes a bit longer and some additional soothing.
This morning, however, he refused to go to back to sleep - no matter what i tried! He still hasn't had a nap to make up for the lack of sleep. Funny thing is, he seems to be quite happy (although gets frustrated easily when he can't do something - which tells me he is tired) and he's blabbering much, much more!! AIBU to think that he should be as tired as I am and WANT to go to sleep???

Aww poor lad and poor you! Can you wrap him up warm and take him out in buggy/car/bus to help him doze off?

Definitely time for a short trip in the car - I bet he'll nod off in no time. I've resorted to it at times in the last few years when I've reached the point of desperation. Good luck.

Tried the driving around in the car, went to sleep but when i took him out, woke up again. Eventually had a nap in his cot at 11.30 but woke up 1hr and 15 mins later - so not really long enough! Tried to get him down for an another nap during the day, but no luck...onto the 'early bedtime' trick...lets see how that goes!!! Thanks for the advice.
