Are you sure they are their children? Maybe they are the childminder?

Some people are very slim as children get bigger in adulthood - it's true in reverse as well sometimes.

Well actually there are a number of studies that show that if a mum is worried about her weight she can consciously or subsconsciously restrict that childs diet which in turn can lead to problems (mainly that child eating any chocolate bar it can get its hands on once old enough).

Sorry was that was too sensible an answer? Grin

It's impossible for a fat person to have a skiiny child. My mate's mum's cousin's hamster told me that it's true. If you see a fat person with a skinny child then there has been a mix up at the hospital and you have to phone the police.

ey?

I have a BMI of over 30, dh otoh is on the skinny side.

My two daughters are very slim. I breastfed them until they were 2.6 and otherwise try to give them healthy food, but with treats allowed.

I certainly do not think that I'm bringing them up to have food issues. And to say "perhaps it's the childminder".... words fail me.

maybe they are fat due to health issues
maybe they are fat because the drink too much beer
maybe they have a slower metabolism than their children
maybe they put weight in pg and can't shift it
maybe its none of your business

Sons of overweight fathers are six times more likely to be overweight by the age of eight and daughters of overweight mothers are ten times more likely to be overweight by the eight.
It's probably not nice to hear, but it is true.

THat's the second time you've posted that. Are you following the fatties (me, btw in case anyone takes offence) around the board?

Is it because the skinny kids can't get near the food

Erm....are people posting the same tired old crappy threads themes? I thought I'd copy and paste my answer.

I think that skinny babies with fat parents and fat babies with skinny parents should be forced to swap.

This would keep the forces of the world balanced.

I thought that to rockbird, but then, see, i remembered, im fat, so im also thick, and therefore couldn't possibly make that assumption, even if it is correct.
Must go and chug down another gallon of chicken fat.

Presumably because the fat parents eat all the food before the kids can their hands on it?

You have no idea whether or not I'm huge or anorexic. I shouldn't have to qualify my comment, it's research...hide from it, deny it if you want, I don't care.

Mmmmmm chicken fat. D'you know, it tastes extra yummy if you mix it with lard. And you can have it with extra thick double cream for afters.
