to have complained about this child's top?

I was in Peacocks yesterday - I know, living the high life! Our nearest town is a bit limited for kids clothing and wanted to get my son some long sleeved tops.

I saw this boys top hanging up and it stopped me in my tracks.

Now, given that this top is for boys aged 1-6 I don't imagine the joke could be aimed at fellow 6 and unders, as they wouldn't get the joke, so surely must be aimed at older children and adults. Which is why I found it made me really uncomfortable. The lady in the shop said she agreed with me, but a friend thought I was being over the top.

So am I being precious or is it really bad taste?

I don't understand the problem??

booyhoo Sat 13-Nov-10 17:18:51

i don't get it confused

think you are being a bit oversensitive, I only saw what you meant when I tried to find an 'angle'. I look at other people's kids if they are cute and hope as a DP other people don't find it weird! So a Tshirt encouraging it is kind of OK.. isn't it?

musicmadness Sat 13-Nov-10 17:19:34

your being precious.

I'm not sure it's necessarily bad taste but it is a particularly revolting top, with a horribly teenage-esque message on it.

I think its ok

SouthMum Sat 13-Nov-10 17:19:49

Whats wrong with it? confused

oh I love it
think I will have to put a link on sn.

Tortington Sat 13-Nov-10 17:20:44

i can't read the ery very small writing, so i don't understand

ConnorTraceptive Sat 13-Nov-10 17:21:00

I don't get it either but then all slogan t shirts are naff and crap and shouldn't be bought regardless of offensive content or not

Eglu Sat 13-Nov-10 17:21:03

Don't see the big deal. It's not like it says I'm a little twat, as someone added to another thread, as an example of waful childrens stuff.

taintedpaint Sat 13-Nov-10 17:21:09

I get why you're upset about it, but I don't personally feel that it's a huge deal. I'm uncomfortable enough to not want to buy it, but not enough to complain.

So I don't know if you are being unreasonable or not....

scottishmummy Sat 13-Nov-10 17:21:59

whats your beef exactly?not risqué is it

TheUnmentioned Sat 13-Nov-10 17:22:53

what does it say???

lucky1979 Sat 13-Nov-10 17:22:54

I don't understand why it's offensive - what am I missing?

Lotster Sat 13-Nov-10 17:23:21

The small print says "you're not the first and you won't be the last".

Connor - agree on slogan t-shirts.

ib Sat 13-Nov-10 17:23:48

What does the tiny writing say?

booyhoo Sat 13-Nov-10 17:24:36

i still don't get it. how is that offensive?>

scottishmummy Sat 13-Nov-10 17:25:27

you must be very sensitive or pc to find offence in that

Lotster Sat 13-Nov-10 17:25:30

Ok I suppose I see the sentence
"Do you think I don't notice you staring at me? You're not the first and you won't be the last." somewhat provocative.

In fact I think it's obvious. Imagine your teenage daughter wearing it??

Tortington Sat 13-Nov-10 17:25:52

thanks for telling me what the small writing says.

in that case.............i don't get it

please someone tell me why it's offensive

scottishmummy Sat 13-Nov-10 17:26:19

keep on digging, you might reach australia at this rate

thumbwitch Sat 13-Nov-10 17:26:33

Well it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be from your OP but tbh I wouldn't be putting DS in it.
But then I don't like any kind of t-shirt that seems to imply that the wearer thinks they're God's gift to other people and they should be grateful to know them/have them on the planet.
So - YANBthatU but perhaps a bit precious to have complained about it!

SouthMum Sat 13-Nov-10 17:28:30

I think you are reading too much into it.

Also it would be way too small for a teenager to wear it if it fits ages 1 - 6
