DD4, PLB (precious last born) has been counting! Not just reciting numbers, but actually counting things. And not just to two or three, but to eight! I am amazed, and chuffed

It's exciting enough when they learn something new (or you realise they've learnt something new) but when it's far over and above what you're used to, it's even more exciting!

I am looking forward to having something concrete to be smug about. My 15 month old keeps giving every appearance of being pretty clever and I get all "Look what I made!" about him. And then he does something so spectacularly stupid that I am plunged into "Oh gawd, look what I made!" despair.

The usual pattern is correctly identifying various animals in his book, giving himself a round of applause, and then celebrating by trying to open the cupboard door with his head.

I'm afraid I can top you all. At just turned 2 my DD1 learned to say "fucks sake". And used it regualrly. Especially when out in public or in the presence of MIL.

My 2 year old was playing 'shop' in the park today and when I asked her what she was selling she said 'aubergines'. Was quite impressed.

DS1 hit every milestone early, could do almost everything months before all the others. He was fluently reading by the time he was four and I used to feel very smug.

Turned out he has Aspergers, and it wasn't my fantastic parenting after all

Well, my DD is 23mo, can count stuff to six and woke us all up this morning with a rousing chorus of "Fuckin' 'ell... Fuuuckin' 'ell... Fuckin' 'ell" in her best mummys east London accent.

DD learnt fuck last week, the day she was going to stay with her nan. That's alright, I thought she can't say F yet. I'll get away with 'uck' 'uck'

Of course she hit her hand in the bath the next day and yelled 'Fuck' at my MIL.

DS aged 4 (a late starter in swearing it seems) said 'Oh for fucks sake' and DH heard when he asked where he had heard it I sent up a silent pray - Please dont say mummy, please dont say mummy. He blamed a boy at school, so Ive escaped this time.

Impressive, but... my DS (also just turned 2) for the last couple of months has been counting to 10 (objects as well as reciting), and recognises/reads the numbers as well (he was very happy when he found the hopscotch grids at the park and read all the mumbers to me). So clearly also very gifted! :)

Although walking down the street now takes a looooong time as he's finding the numbers on street signs, license plates, bins, doors... why oh why did I teach him about number?!?

My 22m DS2 is obsessed with cooking. He loves to watch Jamie Oliver and spends all day playing with pans (mine and his), stirring, chopping, tasting and pronouncing his imaginary creation to be either 'hothot' or 'ready'.

He does help out when I cook and yesterday made pancakes for breakfast and scrambled eggs, bacon and beans for lunch for DS1, DS2 and me. I helped with holding the pan.

Oh, and I am not in the slightest bit under the belief that DD4's superior counting skills has anything to do with my parenting. She has been brought up nearly 100% by her older sisters, as I am now very bored of parenting babies and toddlers

DD1 once said, aged about 3, when feeding deer that kept pushing eachother out of hte way 'Oh! It's that bloody dear again!'.

And DD2 (5) announced to me the other day that 'yes, yes, I know I'm pissing you off'
