Followed by the sugar obviously.....

You do NOT repeat DO NOT dump the teabag, sugar and milk in the (bone china) cup/ mug/ whatever then pour hot water on top and hope for the best ?? Angry

YABU.The milk should always go in first, and sugar shouldn't be involved at all.

If you're making tea in a cup, then the milk goes in afterwards.

If you're making it in a teapot the milk should go in first.

YABU. There should not be any mention of milk or sugar when it comes to a good cup of tea.

I don't put the milk in first, as I judge how much by the colour.

My mother thinks I'm peculiar.

YABVU. The milk goes in first.

'Tis a class matter (ain't it always Grin).

In Ye Olden Tymes, those with fine bone china teacups would put the milk in first, then the tea: boiling tea on exquisite porcelain = shattered disaster.

Those with rough clay mugs could slop in as much boiling tea as they like without cracking their cup- so tea first, milk after.

Anyway - that's what I'm told, and I like it, so I'm sticking to it Smile.

Also, sugar in tea is vomitous. That is all.

Tea needs freshly boiled water, ergo milk goes in last after Tbag removed.

Instant coffee OTOH is best not scalded, so milk in first and water off the boil.

Traditionally, milk was always added first.
This was to stop the boiling water from cracking the mug (the small amount of milk was enough to lower the temp)

I can't stand tea when the milk and sugar is added after, it just tastes wrong!

Each to their own!

YABU you must put milk in first if using bone china cups, if you put boiling tea in first you will crack the cup.

when using a mug, hot water over tea, then milk

I'm in the same school of thought as the rest with milk in after if in a mug but milk in first in porcelain cup if using a teapot.

I don't use sugar i use sweetners.

I'm the only tea drinker I know who COULDN'T GIVE A TOSS about the order in which the components of my tea or coffee go into the mug. I honestly can't taste any difference, the only thing I insist on is PG Tips tea or Nescafe coffee. All the other brands can go f*#k themselves.

YABU

Tea is made in the teapot, then poured into the cup which already has milk in it.

Isn't that the French way?

I heard that spies in WW2 were caught out by making their tea the English way, ie adding the tea to the milk.

I have no idea where I got that from.

And I don't drink tea.
