To think I can't carry on like this

I come home each evening, absolutely exhausted after a full day's work, during which things are so hectic I rarely get a lunchbreak and with a pounding headache that takes several hours to go away.

My workload keeps increasing, there's no extra resource to compensate and no possiblity of deferring some work as it must be delivered to strict deadlines - which I cannot influence.

When I try to tell my boss this is not sustainable I am "being negative" shock

I can't see any other option but to change jobs - this is killing me.

I've done my share of that - this is supposed to be life 'after kids'

I guess work to rule and miss your deadlines. What kind of work do you do?

Tell them about the EC working time directive. Could you set up your own business? Beats slogging your guts out for someone else.

Go to the docs and try to get off with stress
and your boss might get the hint

That's a very good idea Jason, do that OP. smile

I think you need to ask your manager for a meeting so that you and he/she can talk about your workload. There's obviously something wrong if you are feeling so unwell.

Can you compare what you do with others at work? Is everyone in the same position? Is there anything at all (such as extra training) which would help you cope?

Sounds unsustainable. What do you do?

Start looking around for another job - if it's making you sick and unhappy and there's no hope of things changing in the foreseeable future, you need to get out of there.

Even more work piled on to my team today.

I had a chat with LM (again) today - he doesn't see a problem.

I'm voting with my feet.

Search for new job starts tomorrow.
