Breastfeeding, weaning & nuts

Can anyone tell me if it is safe to introduce peanuts (not whole) when weaning at 6 months. E.g. peanut butter?

On the BLW weaning thread we have pondered whether "exposure" to peanuts via breastmilk is enough of a test of allergy. Is this true?

I read that if there is a history of asthma in the family then peanuts shouldn't be introduced until 3 years+. I had asthma until aged 7-ish but no longer suffer. Does this count as history? I read somewhere that this only applies to peanuts and other nuts should be safe.

Can anyone tell me (and the other BLW-ers) if this sounds right?

Its not that dd has to have peanut butter but if I need to avoid it I'd like to know.

Can't help, I'm just lurking for an answer. DP's sister has a nut allergy, so I avoided nuts during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. DS has never had nuts (he's just two) but it would be lovely to give him a peanut butter sandwich every once in a while.

Just did a little research and found this from the Food Standards Agency
New advice on eating nuts during pregnancy, while bfeeding and for small children

The good news is that nuts should be fine before the age of three, even if you have a family history. Yay!

Thanks BTF, I probably should have checked there!

May have to wait before giving any to dd then.
