Couple of weeks back we stopped DS(16 mnths) on cows dairy products and wheat because of his severe eczema in order to check his intolerances.
In 1st week it looked lil better but from yesterday its flared up again so badly that i had to use really strong streiod cream.
I am so heart broken as my this attempt has also failed.
pl. advice how long normally does it take to see the results if they are actually intolerant to such food ?Shall continue on wheat free and cows milk dairy free diet?

Could you have missed some dairy - skimmed milk powder gets into a lot of foods (including bread) and you also need to check for whey and casein? If you take out a problem food then reintroduce you can get a worse reaction, that is the best proof of a problem.

If you really have excluded all traces then 2 weeks is enough. It is difficult not to miss something, though if you aren't used to it.

Personally I'd try probiotics and fish oil supplements before the exclusion diet.

thanks tatt - I personally didnt like the idea of excluding food from his diet but my homoeopath strongly suggested that I should.
Pro biotic and oil supplements sounds good,I will find out more info about that.

Hi,
I have done the same thing for my ds ( 7 months ) with eczema - except I gave up dairy as am still BF. His eczema started to improve on day 12. Its now been 6 weeks and just last week I realised his chest was clear and its just his face and legs which still have marks on them - but both of these areas he is able to scratch so will take longer. They are much better though. So, I think it is worth doing it for a bit longer as I think it might take a while for all the proteins to get out of his system. Also, as tatt said, you have to be obsessive about checking labels. I was planning on going back onto dairy to challenge it, ie prove thats been the cause but can't bring myself to do it as his skin looks so lovely.
Just a thought, but it might be better to try giving up one food type at a time, otherwise if you do see an improvement you won't know which food has made the difference.
