Sudden intolernace/allergy to alcohol?

I've drunk my fair share of alcohol over the years, was a uni student and drank far more than I do now. I didn't drink a single drop whilst pg with ds 19 months. Since havinf ds I have drunk considerably less than I have for many years, can't really afford to.

Anyway for the last 6 months or so i've hardly drunk at all, maybe once or twice a month. It was my birthday last week so family visited and we drank all evening. After they left we had lager left over and a bottle of rose wine so we've had a drink most evenings to use it up.

Anyway, my point is, just this last week, every time I drink any alcohol at all my neck just below my chin gets really itchy.

This has never happened before, it tends to come on about 10 mins after i've started drinking and gradually calms down over the next hour or so, have been putting cream on it with calomine in and trying my best not to itch it. It just feels so itchy when it happens though!

Does anyone know if this is me being intollerant to the alcohol?

Well, we are trying but i'm only on CD17 at the moment so it would be incredibly early. Thats why I haven't been drinking much lately, cause of the ttc but we're trying to 'forget about it' this month cause it's been 7 months and nothing yet...

My friend has a condition which makes her get pins and needles in her hands and feet if she ddrinks. It is something to do with some vitamin her body doesnt make, she has to get monthly injections for it. Vitamin B12, thats it, shhe has a deficiency is this, dont know if it causes itching too tho.

Does what you are drinking have sulphites in it? These are added to some wines/beers and a lot of people are sensitive to them.

Ooh don't know...the drinks I have had I have drunk many times before and had no reaction though, that's what I don't understand. Can I suddenly become sensitive to sulphites if I wasn't before?

I have a friend who gets a sort of blotchy rash from some white wines - she says she was told by her GP it was a reaction to the yeast present in wine and that cheap wines have more of it. I am a bit about this though!

i don't get rashes, but chardonnay makes me sneeze and my nose swells up in a really attractive way

Drusilla - Hmm, it's a weird one, my sil gets a rash with certain fizzy wines/lagers... I just don't understand why this has started happening all of a sudden?!

Rialentless - Sorry but I did lol slighty at the idea of your nose swelling up in a really attractive way!
