Dietician has prescribed Infasoy milk to replace Goats which is what she was on. She has constant diorreah. She is v reluctant to drink it but we have been told to slowly build up. I am giving probiotic powders and cutting out all lactose products. I just wondered if there was any advice you could give me or questions for the dietician whom I will speak to tomorrow. She is loosing so much weight. I am v concerned and would love to hear from others who have gone through this nightmare x
thanks x

When my ds was prescribed soya, I tried it myself and not only it wasn't very nice, I actually had awful cramps and was in agony and we poured it down the drain. Research it for your own peace of mind, but milk is not compulsory and I personally would prefer to give SMALL amount of goats vs soya (soya is not that good at all).

With my ds, we stopped milk from about 18 months completely, after that he only has occasional yoghourt and very occasionally hot choc made with goats milk. And he is gluten free too as we found that his dairy intolerance was caused by gluten.

Yes been through this. Soy didnt do us any good as DD1 (14m at the time) chucked it up. On Paeditricians advice we took DD off all dairy bar formula for a month. She at first had watered down formula(1/3 strength for a few days, then 1/2 strength for another couple of days) while her system recovered, then had normal formula but no other dairy. She also had probiotics (the children's powders from the health food shop)

It seemed to work, she was back on track within a fortnight or so.

Interestingly our GP did what your dietican has done, and asked us to take her off all dairy inc formula. I thought this was too extreme, thus taking her to the very sensible paeditrician who said that formula is so processed her belly wouldn't react to it as much as actual cows milk, and it was better to get the nutrients and calcium than not.

But everyone is different of course, so this advice might not apply in your dd's case!

v v interesting thank you. I am not keen on Soy and am not going to force the issue. Will keep doing what I am doing. Dietician has recommended one scoop of soy to her goats milk formula and build up slowly. Just desperate to see a hard poo after 3 weeks. Did your LOs gain weight OK after it was over? DD had dropped so much.

Some improvement (no pain, vomitting or diarrhoea (sp??), but was always small for his age - until we went gluten-free and then he improved in all directions.

For us, DD just needed to get clear of the temporary lactose intolerance which she did in a few weeks then she was pretty much back to normal on her usual diet.
