Common causes of uticaria?

dd1 over the past 4 days has been breaking out in angry patches of uticaria. they change position (tummy, chest, knees, face) and when they flare up are really big and super itchy.

I'm treating with piriton (plus short nails).

What could be causing it?

She has never had anything like this before. I'm wracking my brains to think of anythig different she might have come into contact with since the w/e but can't think of anything.

I'm almost at the bottom of a big bottle of scented lenor (usuually use the sensitive one), have been using it for several weeks now, but does it take some time to sensitise the skin?

Any suggestions v gratefully recieved.

Ds had this last year and the gp said that you can get urticaria as a reaction to a virus.

I couldn't actually remember ds recently having had any illness other than a cold though, but at the same time I coudn't think of anything else he could be allergic to either.

Ds's was mainly on his face, which meant that we got alot of looks when out and about, as it lasted for about 3 weeks.

OK, a virus would explain it. I hope it's that (and therefore will go). I'm wondering if I should wash all her clothes in non bio anyway?

Lazylou, how did you work it out, was the cause and effect v obvious?

ds has suffered with this from time to time - sometimes worse than others - we have never been able to narrow down what has caused it - the doctor said we might never find out!

Piriton works!!
