ds has a dairy allergy and as i'm finally stopping bf i need to start thinking more about the calcium thing. He has one soya yogurt a day but won't touch the milk - and i don't want him having huge amounts of soya anyway - he won't drink rice milk or oat milk either but i have just found out that you can buy tropicana orange juice fortified with calcium, and i know readybrek has added calcium. Just wondered if anyone knew of any other products that randomly have calcium added to them. (he's 22.5 months btw). He does have lots of humous and green leafy veg etc etc but i would feel better if i knew more of his calcium intake was definitly taken care of without thinking about every single meal individually.

my ds is 21 months and has dairy allergy plus soya and egg intolerance so know how hard it is. Have you tried him on goats milk? My ds has nanny goat formula but there isnt any point really starting that at this age. Delamere you can buy from the supermarket. Purple sprouting brocoli is very high in calcium.

The info i got from dietician is that a 1-3 yr old needs 350mg per day. There is 587mg in 1 pint of goats milk so you can compare! Whitebait fish is very high as is tinned sardines. Fruit wise is raw figs (!) and oranges being the second highest.

Hope this helps

Osteocare do a calcium supplement syrup. It's in a blue box and you can get it in Holland and Barrett, some chemists sell it too (have never seen it in Boot's though). My kids love it, and it's good to know there's something I can just "top them up" with if I am worried they haven't had enough.

White bread contains calcium (2 slices = 60mg). A small can of baked beans has 100mg.

Also there used to be a brand of bottled water with added calcium - can't remember the name, sorry! In any case it gave my friend's son the two-bob-bits, and when I bought some I kept forgetting to use it anyway!
