when i got up and got dressed i found lumps like bites all over behind both knees and down to my ankles and inside my elbows. it is desperately itchy and bright, bright red.

i do have a cat but this is beyond any flea bite i have ever seen.

i have not changed laundry products, soap etc or eaten anything out of the ordinary and have taken piriton syrup but what could be causing this??

sounds like a heat rash/ezcema type thing, prob abought about by sweating. Have a nice shower, not too hot, no soap, and pat dry, rub on some non purfumed baby moisturiser and put on some cotton clothing, dont get too hot and in my personal experience it should go away in a day or 2, oh..... and fgs dont scratch!!!!

yuk, scabies sounds nasty (just looked at the link)..... i suppose i should add, if its showing no signs of improvement after the weekend, you should, of course, consult your gp

Hey itchy, how are you today? Is it clearing up?

clarevoiant, thanks for your message which i just read after getting back from hols!

i went to the doctors, regarding the chest infection and rash and he said that it was probably something i'd ingested and gave me anti-histamine tabs.

but in the last few weeks, i've had it on and off for no apparent reason. i checked that i could take the anti-hists regularly with no ill effect and so am just doing that whenever i get an itch on. and it's not heat related as far as i can work out..

weird huh?

Hi I started with itchy lumpy spots a week ago mostly on my arms few on legs, stomach and back.Dont know whats causing it.Scoured the net and still dont know.Been to the docs today and she doesnt know either!Given antihistamines and aqueous cream. It calms right down in the night....which is just the opposite to what I would have thought...and is at its worst early evening. They said to go back if no better in a week.

Could it be dermatitis herpetiformis? I remember reading that this causes rash on inside of knees and elbows and other pressure areas.

It does sound like urticaria/nettle rash/hives. It is often caused by a allergy but it can also be reated to stress, infection, heat or cold or changing between the two.
