back acne

For the past 13 months i have had terrible acne all over my back and ONLY my back.

I have been to the doctors and they've told me to get more sun (particularly helpful in the middle of winter Hmm ) and use hibiscrub.

I have tried various acne skin washes/lotions etc and nothing is working.

I now have horrible scars all over my back as well as the acne. Its more big red painful spots rather than small whiteheads

I went to see a dermatologist about another skin problem completely unrelated 6 months ago and mentioned this to them and they just shrugged and said wait til summer and get some sun. Probably because my appointment was not for that problem and they didn't want to get into it.

Has anyone else suffered with this? Can anyone else recommend anything I can try?

I'm trying to get back to the doctors for a referral to dermatology but I've been ringing every day for 6 weeks and just keep getting told no routine appointments available and to ring back the next day Sad

I get it too sometimes ....drives me nuts. Scrubbing with a back scrubber sponge thing does help. I wonder whether you could go on a sun bed?

From memory, I read that back and chest acne if no acne on face can be fungal. One treatment is to use an anti fungal shampoo like Nizoral on the area, lather it up and leave it on there for a few minutes. Can’t remember the active ingredient.

I don’t have links but maybe search for back acne + nizoral.

I have back acne and I'm almost certain it is hormonal.
I have it constantly- but only when I'm on hormonal contraception

Oxytetracycline helps it's a low dose antibiotic. However I don't want to be taking this forever.

I'm currently on holiday and the sun is helping massively. I've been thinking of getting one of those UV tanning lights for when I get home.

I had terrible bacne and tried so many different remedies. Had been to doctors who suggested exactly what you said. More sun...

Then I found boots back spray. It was amazing and cleared my back up in 2 weeks just spray on after morning shower and before night time. Also used the scrub once a week.

It's definitely worth giving it a go!!

I know this hasn't been posted on for a while but I've heard Head and Shoulders Classic shampoo is worth a try! (anti fungal).
