Any IBS sufferers?

For about 10 years now, I've wondered if I have IBS. I really do need to get checked out, but I'm just in the process of doing a food diary as I'm sure the doctor will ask for that.

It started after I stopped the Slimming World diet. While I was doing that, I didn't have anything fatty. Everything was grilled, didn't eat much red meat, lots of chicken, etc. When I came off the diet after about 6 months, I have on/off struggled with red meat.

If I have red meat that is particular greasy, like a hamburger or doner kebab, I sometimes will get really bad stomach cramps about an hour later, with diarrhoea and sometimes I will be sick. The cramps will last for about a hour or so, and then I just feel a bit drained after.

But this doesn't happen every time. Sometimes I can eat a burger or something greasy and I'm fine. Another time, I'm not. Does that sound like IBS, that it only affects me sometimes?

Have you been tested for Coeliac?

No, I haven't been tested for anything yet. I did look at the symptoms of coeliac, but it's so intermittent that I get ill from eating. It could be months and months and months, and my diet is generally the same. The funny thing is I did just look at the symptoms and it said that low folic acid could be a sign that you have it. I did have a blood test a while back which showed I had low folic acid. I think I'll book an appointment with the doctors this week.

I'm struggling with keeping a food diary as, like I said, it doesn't happen that often, and then some foods that set me off won't the next time I eat them.

Hello ,

I've been diagnosed with IBS ... it took a while to get a diagnosis !

Look into 'Low Fodmap' diet - this has really helped me

Go to your GP and go from there
