Public Consultation on Food Labelling : have your say.

Following two deaths prior to Christmas, one involving Pret A Manger the other a take away curry, the Food Standards Agency have an online consultation on food labelling. Links to the questionnaire are listed on the FSA website and Anaphylaxis Campaign website. To effectively manage their medical condition allergy suffers are calling for ALL ingredients in a product to be listed ( option 4 in the consultation ), as opposed to ‘ ask a staff member’ or statements like ‘may contain’. The public consultation isn’t very well publicised...wonder why? If you want your voice to count on this life threatening issue and challenge the voice of business which will no doubt complain about cost, please complete the online questionnaire.

If you google Anaphylaxis Campaign and go to the bottom of their home page it tells you about the consultation and gives you the link to complete the consultation questionnaire. A must for any allergy sufferers or parent of an allergy suffer.
Businesses are obviously hoping the public won’t submit many comments as it’s quite a long questionnaire to complete. Allergy suffers are opting for option 4 - all food ingredients to be listed on food in the future. I’m guessing businesses are complaining about the cost of changing their current labelling processes. Tell that to the parents of Natasha who died following Pret A Manger and the Manchester teenager who, despite checking several times with the curry take away, died as it contained nuts. Food literally kills. Please send your comments in and share info about the FSA consultation with any friends who will submit comments. Business can’t be trusted with the lives of our children.

Go onto the website above, scroll down the home page to the bottom and you’ll find the consultation news item - see cut/paste section below. You can click on the link to the FSA questionnaire ‘here’.
Please, first view and consider the consultation document, which explains the current legislation, the scope of the consultation and explains in detail the four different policy options. The document can be accessed here

Then provide your responses to the questions via an online survey, which can be accessed here

If you cannot respond online, you can request a copy of the survey and a response form by e-mailing [email protected]. Queries and completed surveys can also be sent here.

Please respond by 29 March 2019

You can find out more information about this consultation on the Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs website here and can view the impact assessments here.

You need to tap the word 'here' on the anaphylaxis org. Website. It takes you onto the FSA website. There's a whole article on the anaphylaxis website. Scroll down past all the pictures events etc. It is there. I'm so sorry you're having trouble but keep looking/trying.👍
