Dairy free cooking

DD is dairy free for 6 weeks. Has anyone used almond milk/one of the other substitute milks to make Yorkshire puddings/pancakes? Does it work?
Have used to make custard and bechemal sauce - but for both had to add cornflower - something in the "make up" of the milk meant it reacted differently and i didn't get the thickening i would expect with normal milk.

you can buy cartons of soya custard, and there is a free from white sauce in a jar in asda. might be worth trying.
I use pure marge for pastry and thats okay.
i put almond milk on porridge, but have never tried to make white sauce with soya milk yet!

Oat milk works brilliantly in Yorkshire puddings, pancakes, white sauce etc. If you can get hold of it, the Oatly Barrista version is the best

yes. soya milk for pancakes, and egg replacer.

flour, teaspoon of egg replacer, soya milk and water mix, make batter consistency. (i don't do measuring but it is a couple of table spoons of flour or so. whatever you need to one egg)

also use for "white sauce" though this is done the cheats wy so no idea how it would work as a sauce on it's own.

vitalite is dairy free. check which one ther are mmore than one type.

sainsburys do a mature cheddar like cheese, and some other varieties. (dairy free) if you prefer plastic cheese choose violife which melts, sort of. )also dairy free.

if you want croisannts there are some in a tube in Asda... forgotten the brand. in chilled with roll out pastry.

Pancakes are no longer wanted as she can't put Nutella on them!
