Discoid eczema / pompholyx

Does anyone have any experience of discoid eczema or pompholyx? I started with discoid eczema (instead of my usual atopic) about a year ago when pg with my DD. It got very bad and I was referred to a dermatologist. I've been getting various treatments... steroid creams, itcholmol (sp?) paste bandages, hydrocolloid dressings, healan tape. All of which have essentially failed. When DD was born it flared up again and now, after another 3 months of daily bandages and steroid creams I've pretty much given up. There is not much else that they can offer except to keep on going as it is and stop it worsening.

The other problem is I have bad pompholyx eczema on my feet and the itching is awful. This in turn causes me to open all the discoid eczema on my legs with scratching all over. I have some pompholyx on my hands but it isn't too bad.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm breastfeeding and tired and stressed with 2 kids which is possibly why it's at it's worst. But I can't help all of that lol. Are there any miracle treatments out there that the NHS won't do? Any thought appreciated.

I sometimes suffer with pompholyx/eczema on my hands (particularly when bfing).

When it was at its worst about 8 years ago I resorted to homeopathy in great desperation and entirely sceptically. And guess what? It worked! Well, made the eczema & pompholyx much better anyway. God knows why, probably the placebo effect but I really didn't care.

Worth a try - homeopaths are not expensive.

I am breast feeding and really suffering from eczema all over too. I think it is due to lac of sleep and being run down. I am on steroid cream and am paranoid about my 9-week-old baby being in contact with it. I have also started seeing a homeopath and hope it will work... It gives me great hope it worked for you MissGolightly!

hmm. dh had pomphlox once as an allergic reaction. More recently he has had terrible eczema on his hands. Was given strong steroid cream for his hands. Helped a bit but kept coming back. Eventually it just cleared, which is no help to you. STress seemed to affect his but it's so hard to say.

Hope you find something

I have had discoid eczema for nearly three years after a lifetime of no skin complaints. The whole of below my knees were bleeding and weeping sores. All the creams i have been prescribed made me itch like crazy. A dermatologist prescribed me strong antihistamine tablets which, although they made me sleepy to start with, helped! I started using bio oil about four months ago. I use it morning and night and after a shower. The difference it has made is amazing. It hasnt gone completely but it is finally heading in the right direction. It is not the cheapest but i urge you to try a small bottle. I really hope this works for you because i know how desperate i was when my eczema was at its worst.
