Hayfever for the first time as an adult?

I am 50 and thought I had been developing a cold for the last few days; itchy eyes, runny nose, scratchy throat etc nothing is 'developing' though and I'm beginning to wonder if it's hay fever. I have never had hayfever before.
Anyone else developed it later in life?

Yes! I developed a dust allergy about 5 years ago, and have had awful hay fever for the past 2 years. I’d never had any allergies as a child. I’ve yet to find an antihistamine that offers much relief so I’ll watching this thread with interest. Sorry I can’t help more.

Not as late as 50, but I was in my late 20s when I started to get hay fever and I have been getting increasingly worse as I've aged (now 51). It's possible that you have birch pollen allergy, I'm allergic to a lot of different tree pollen but I find that birch is the worst. This year is particularly bad because it was very cold so all the trees were late and then when the warmer weather came they all pumped out a load of pollen at the same time.

Try the hay fever nasal sprays and see if you can find an anti-histamine that suits you. I used to take loratadine for years until one year it suddenly made me sleepy, now I take a prescription anti-histamine called Drynol.

I first got it about four years ago when I quit smoking, so early 30s.
Try nettle supplements. Worked like a dream for me when pregnant and couldn't take antihistamines.

Yes, I developed it last year and I am 28. Had never had any problems previously. Some days it can be worse than others, and an antihistamine usually helps.

Yes I was early 30s. None of the stuff in the chemist does anything so I get a nasal spray on prescription.
