Allergies and intolerances

Does it sound like DD has a milk allergy?

Basically, my 20 month old has never had an issue with milk when she was using formula. Never suffered from colic, reflux etc.
But when she turned 1 and I put her on full fat cows milk her skin started getting red and itchy. She does suffer from eczema anyway which we are constantly applying certaban (sp?) and special body washes to.
Her skin is mostly bad on her back, but is also on her thighs, tops of her arms and chest. I haven't given her any cows milk for just over a week now and he skin has cleared up without the help of her body washes or cream!
Is it just eczema or does it sound like a milk allergy?

We cut dairy (milk & yoghurt specifically) when DS was 1ish as he would get a rash on his face. It cleared up immediately.

His intolerance is weird and he can have a low level of cheese/chocolate and the like but I manage that. As far as school are concerned, he's dairy free and he's super militant about it as well! He'll soon tell someone if he's 'not allowed it'.

I often toy with the idea of trying him back on it, however, with how bad his skin flared up over Easter (a lot of chocolate!!) it's not worth it!

Just try, if it clears up, keep off it, try it again and see what happens? Trial and erro is the only way to deal with it. That was the advice from paediatrician when we were referred, he says I know him best, he can do loads of tests & he will still sit in a 'grey area' where he can have some things and not others.

@NoGoodAtHousework thank you for your reply. Is he still drinking cows milk? If so what did you substitute it with? I'm just worried about calcium deficiency as well!

No he doesn't have cows milk, it's an easy swap out for me as I don't have it.

He used have soya and still has soya yoghurts. We have had coconut milk and are now on almond milk (just for ease as it's what I have).

A lot of the drinkable ones have added calcium and I think they do a soya milk designed for 'kids'. We've never had an issue with calcium deficiency and he's been off cows milk for around 5 years.

He can still eat a reasonable amount of cheese without it effecting him so he's getting calcium from there as well..
