Gluten free Quorn and coeliac disease

Hi,

I'm a newly diagnosed coeliac sufferer and tonight was making cottage pie for my family and inadvertently used standard gravy and so I couldn't have it.

I had some gluten free quorn sausages in the freezer so cooked them with some potato, peas and carrots and now 2 hours later i am experiencing my symptoms as if I have been glutened!!!!

Has anyone else had this with Quorn despite it being labelled as gluten free?

I know not a lot about coeliac - but some people react badly to quorn.

Hi, we're the sausages actually labelled gf? Quorn are still producing normal as well as gf so it gets quite confusing

We're a family of 4 all vegetarian and 3 severe coeliacs. So far we've not had any reaction to any of their products but I'm always vigilant on packaging

Could you possibly have contaminated as you were also using non gf products too?

To be honest DH never eats gluten at home as the risk of cross contamination is something he's not prepared to put us through

Agree with user that it's just so much easier to have a gf house.

Hi User, yes definitely labelled gluten free (and more expensive than the others :( )

I would love to have a GF house but Ds (17) and DH are both bread freaks and DD(7) is allergic to cows milk protein and soya and is already on a limited diet so don't want to restrict her more at the moment... she's also come out in hives from the park yesterday and today so suspect she's allergic to trees/grass (I'm allergic to trees - affects my asthma and increased mucus production)

Think I'm going to avoid Quorn to be on the safe side.... had a lovely plate of scrambled eggs with grilled halloummi and mushrooms tonight :)
