Allergies and intolerances

Eczema and goats milk formula?

My 6mo ds has very suddenly developed very bad eczema all over his body. We've been to drs and trying out various creams etc.

We have had an allergy test and he has a cows milk intolerance. I am breastfeeding. I was advised by the dietician that along with dairy I should cut out various other eczema-triggering foods - the list was quite extensive, and was advised it may be easier to switch to goats formula (his twin sister is already on it)

Has anyone ever switched to goats formula (I'm using nannycare) and seen a marked improvement in eczema?? I'm reluctant to do a straight switch as it will stop my BM supply, but also at my wits end with the eczema! It's horrible for him and we're all losing so much sleep.

Have also posted in children's health.

I'm no expert. Ds1 had a cmpa and I breastfed him until he was 3. I gave up any dairy in my diet and although he still had eczema it was manageable.
I can't see how any formula is better than bm? I even expressed milk so ds could have milk on cereal etc

Goats milk is supposed to contain very similar proteins to cows milk and therefore isn't recommended for cmpa babies. You'd need a dairy free formula like neocate.

Having said that my cmpa daughter is ok with goats milk (I haven't tried her on formula though)

We use alfamino on prescription. I also breastfeed ds but can't express at work because although they're supposed to facilitate it they don't (Angry). My ds still has flare ups every now and then anyway. Its so difficult!
