Seeking the BEST dairy-free chocolate.

I am allergic to dairy and would really love something delicious and chocolatey to munch away from DH and DD.

What is the best dairy free chocolate you have encountered?

Moo free.perfect.lots of flavours..you can't even tell its vegan....failing that.sainsburys basic range 30p big bar dark chocolate...cheep as chips ans just as nice...and bounville by Cadbury.

Oh but the best of all choices chocs caramel...approx £3 for about 10 individual gold wrapped chocs...just like thorntons but better

My favourite is Pret a Manger's Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt. Little tiny bars, 99p, so not cheap, but really nice. They don't advertise it as dairy free, but it's in their allergy book (or it was). The wrappers of course say 'may contain milk', but it's not in the ingredients.

It isn't particularly dark - doesn't taste like green and blacks or some of the other dark chocolates that I don't like that much - but really nice. And the sea salt bits are good!

Montezuma's dark chocolate buttons are very very good. Most dark chocolate doesn't contain milk, so if you're a fan of the dark stuff it's easy to find.

I've had to be dairy free for a year or so and haven't found any I like. Moo free is sweet but has no depth to it (it could do with a blob of animal fat in it really ) and I hate dark choc. I've tried lots of the booja booja ones but find them disgustingly bitter. I just eat haribo instead

Divine 70% Dark chocolate with raspberry pieces. They also make one with mango & coconut in. Actually, they make quite a few different ones. They're fairtrade too.

that's what I like about the Pret stuff - it's not bitter, and people who don't like dark chocolate have said they like it too.

Would it be wrong to try all of the above in a pregnancy induced choc binge?

Just as a sideline, I'm lactose intolerant and it completely disappeared when I was pregnant, I gorged on ice cream and milkshakes galore with no issues.

I don't know how bad your allergy is but I heard it's quite common to disappear when pregnant. It came back within a few days of ds being born though!

(Obviously maybe not if it a full blown allergy though)

OMBAR! 100 times Ombar. They're made with coconut cream and taste like proper, good quality chocolate. Booja Booja truffles also great but super expensive.
