Hi,
forgive me, I don't know anything about this.

  • is egg ever hidden in bread? If I make sandwiches which aren't eggy can I assume they won't make the egg-allergic child ill?

  • please could you recommend good safe cakes or biscuits which are egg-free?

thank you!

My dd2 had egg allergies (along with soya and cmpi) and the only bread I came across with egg in was a gluten free loaf (only one I could get in particular shop with out soya). Oh and the bread at supermarket bakeries - they always said not suitable for egg allergy.

Cakes, I used to get Betty Crocker cake mix and use can of fizzy pop (mountain dew, coke etc) in place of egg. Just double check ingredients. Have a look in free from aisle in supermarket as some things will be ok but not all. If you can/like baking then there is a host of ideas on Pinterest and I used to use Ogran egg replacer (holland and Barrett) or chai seeds mixed with water.

The normal oreo cookies are a favourite in our house (egg and dairy free). For anyone reading this going dairy free too, be careful to buy the full size ones. I think the baby sized ones in packets sometimes contain dairy.

all Uk made Oreos may contain dairy - US ones don't annoying enough!

good biscuits are tesco own brand bourbons, ginger nuts, rich tea

egg-free cake is pretty hard to buy unless you live near a vegan bakery or can find Mrs Crimbles Dutch style cakes

if you want recipes I can give you a link to my blog which has hundreds of dairy, egg, nut, sesame free recipes on!! Grin

OP, BFree bread is egg free (also milk, wheat and soy free). Ocado do it but I've struggled to find it elsewhere. Mamado I'd be interested in the blog with recipes
