I'm a newbie to MN, with a 5 year old boy. I'm looking for advice with allergies of my own!

Brief history of it: As a child I only had a couple of allergies (Lanolin, cat's and dog's), but now as an an adult (24) in the past two years I have developed loads! Started of as developing Psorasis 2 years ago after an episode of flu (not an allergy, but immune system problem), then reacting to Salmon, most things with fragrances (perfume, cleaning products etc), dust mites, Coal tar (found that one out due to the Psorasis) other foods, but can't pin point which ones, a severe reaction to Penicillin before Christmas and now more food reactions.
The reactions started off as pin head rash all over, but since the Penicillin reaction it has been a swollen mouth, odd metalic taste, breathing problems and sometimes a rash.
I have recently had blood testing done, which says that I am NOT allergic to cat's, dog's or dust mites, which I found odd as I still react to them with either a rash or really itchy eyes and face / skin.
So are the allergy blood tests not reliable? Or do I just seem to have a weird immune system?

Feel like I'm going around in circles with these bloody allergies, would be grateful for any advice!!

Welcome to Mumsnet!

After being ill and run down I find taking probiotics helps me from falling foul of allergic type stuff. You can take live yoghurt every day, but I find that a few large doses of the tablet form much more effective. Taking them with EFAs is supposed to make them more effective - I use flax seed oil, which given your salmon allergy would be a good idea for you too.

I hope this helps and some other people give you some pointers about the blood tests etc.

Thanks for your reply's
Your reply's have given me some things to think about.
I'm going to ask my doctor's (GP and Dermatology) about skin testing for the allergies and see where we go from there!

Thanks again
