My dp had tests today and it came back he's allergic to wheat (normal kind and no other) Yeast and has an intolerance to eggs.

To stop the symptoms that he's been having he knows his diet must change.
So we went to the supermarket....... I thought he was going to cry. He loves his bread and couldn't find anything to buy (we don't live in the uk).
We bought some rye flour to use for coating meat etc... so that parts ok.
Eggs he doesn't eat many anyway and the Dr told him to keep it to 1 weekly - fine.
Can anyone advise me please, is there a bread he can eat, maybe sourdough or ryebread ? and any other tips would be greatly received.

Thank you.

How did you find this out? 99% of the stuff on line I'd rubbish. Was this actually via a real dr? Also there is a big difference in allargy and reaction. Which does he have?

Nobody needs bread. Honestly! And if he's allergic to it, then even more reason not to have it.

And you don't need flour to coat meat either.

Come and have a look at the low carb threads for recipe ideas here are some Bootcamp recipes not necessarily about bread, but about how you can live without wheat/flour/bread

He had blood tests done by a real Dr, it's not self diagnosed from the internet and the wheat and yeast he has an allergy. the egg - a mild intolerance.

Thanks Biwi, i'll have a look through the recipes.

Hi - Can't help with bread (yet). Will start experimenting soon. But here is a link to some gluten free recipes for cakes and cookies. There are also a couple of articles with tips about how to bake gluten free, and things to watch out for. :-)

Soda bread uses bicarbonate and butter milk instead of yeast. I haven't tried it with gluten free flour but rice flour is a good non wheat alternative and you can add Guar gum to improve the texture.
